Where did the horses come from in that early 2000s jump? Were they natural births or imported?
expatriado@lemmy.world 3 days ago
looks like early 2000s they stopped horsing around with the data. also, i like this was posted on the technology community, where horses have been inversely related historically

It’s embarrassing to show data with huge artifacts like that. Obvious change in reporting methods because there was no horse baby boom.
Something is shit in the data around 2001 and rather than explain/correct it, they just put up a turd.

That’s one case where the absolute numbers will be more meaningful and the per capita won’t give much information. China has a greater population, and this dilutes the horses per capita number, and any variation like the increase in the USA curve in the 2000s or the overall decline in the China curve becomes ambiguous without looking at the population data.

It appears that we are only now returning to normal after the 2008 horse bubble
Triumph@fedia.io 3 days ago
Which, it should be noted, is not the same as the 2008 Bubble Horse.

Why that massive dip and recovery in the 60's in the US?
artyom@piefed.social 3 days ago
Pardon my ignorance, what is this supposed to be a metaphor for, exactly?
roofuskit@lemmy.world 3 days ago
That’s gotta be some sort of reporting correction.

I was thinking the old spice commercial but you are practically right that it was movie related.
