Where did the horses come from in that early 2000s jump? Were they natural births or imported?
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
It wouldn’t go over in Canada either.

Interesting. I never considered the height of them. I’ll have to dig into that.
- Comment on US would reach 100% renewable energy by 2148 at current pace 4 weeks ago:
Partially. The wind dies down to almost nothing at night so a long night means a longer time with no wind production.
- Comment on US would reach 100% renewable energy by 2148 at current pace 4 weeks ago:
Yeah, but the wind dies away at night.

Very helpful. I’m surprised by Canada at 64 %. We have such short days in winter when we need the electricity the most that solar and wind don’t produce that much.

More than just Europe. 99 % of the world’s countries use Celcius.
- Comment on The invention of smartphones probably made the idea of international travel less intimidating since you now have a pocket translator tool and can find your way in a foreign place with GPS navigation. 1 month ago:
Smartphones made an incredible change. We used to plan trips months or even years in advance. Mailing to foreign embassies for visas, gathering maps, buying travelor’s cheques, making reservations by mail, researching by borrowing books from the library - all took a lot of time and effort.
