Anbernic makes one now too. Never heard of AYN before
The AYN Thor is looking like the perfect way to emulate dual-screen games

Ayn is retroid, both are owned by moorechip (they’ll deny it). They make the Odin if you’ve heard of that. They are slightly more “premium” than retroid, but still plagued by the same quality control issues and sourcing of discounted, second-hand parts.
There’s already controversy with this one because I’m pretty sure a battery exploded recently, and people are waiting for the hinge to break (there was a post about one already but Ayn is insisting it’s mold marks in a dumb place). Regardless, they couldn’t get it right with the flip or flip 2 so I wouldn’t want to be a beta tester with this one.
Great way to play dual screen games if you don’t care about longevity of the device and you’ve got $500 lying around that you wanna waste instead of spending on a steam deck

That one battery explosion is Retroid, so it’s like blaming Apple for using Samsung parts in their phones. And I think I’ve only seen one Thor hinge issue so far, and AYN replaced it. The Anbernic ones barely plays DS, with only an abandoned emulator, and maybe like two 3DS games, if you can even call it “playable”.

I loved my retroid 3+ while it lasted. Unfortunately, it lasted only for a year before parts started breaking. They also stopped selling replacement parts by that point, and no one could find the ones needed to fix my device. Not sure why retroid keeps getting more expensive with each release if they’re still using the same quality of parts, but I’m never buying from them again.
I was looking at this device, but if it’s overall the same company, I’m definitely out. My 3DS just recently succumbed to the hinge issue, so I don’t doubt something with cheaper parts will succumb to the same issue much quicker.

Anbernic’s device couldn’t even emulate 3ds

check the long term longevity of these devices. for none of them after the rp3+ you can find compatible batteries on ebay if you have a spicy pillow. and these accidents still happen.

I bought one. It’s great, I love it 🙂

You can do the same thing with any standard phone and good emulator, TBC. Might want to use a small tablet with controller attached for a better gaming experience, but my point is– this seems to be a specialty device that’s not all that necessary for the budget-conscious or person who prefers devices having multiple flexibility.

It’s dual screen

Yes, that’s also my understanding.
For example, I have a DSXL myself, and find nothing ‘special’ about it having dual screens. Transferring those two screens to my phone / tablet using emulator of choice has been a superior experience, for the most part.

Is there a version “made by” Soulja Boy?

I can only hope, lol
