Hm… I wouldn’t call plush toys dolls. But everything else mentioned is a doll, yeah 🙂

Ah, forgot about the universal link, thank you!
Edited the post.

It now has workspaces (it’s called servers in Discord) and there you can have chats, which are basically channels like in Discord.

The Lemmy devs? I’d suggest to read what they actually write. The are good guys.
But I also don’t think it matters. For example, I don’t really like the behavior of the Duckstation dev (PS1 emulator). But I don’t have to agree with him in order to use it.

It’s a shame to see that people think of Lemmy creators as some sort of villains.
I created my account on .ml before the Reddit blackout, but there wasn’t much content there, so I didn’t use it much. I properly started using it after the “Reddit blackout,” and that’s when I learned about the so-called “tankie problem.” I’ve met people with weird opinions, but the developers and Marxists in general aren’t bad people. People just usually make a strawmen to argue against.
Anyway, none of their opinions are reflected in the software. Lemmy is done in a truly democratic and user-respectful way, and I respect them for it.

I’m not sure there’s a better UX. Take a look at the recent code analysis: lemmy.ml/post/42415919/23662293
I think the current behavior is very confusing. Unless you’re an instance admin, you don’t know whether these features are enabled or not.

Maybe add Matrix as a Discord alternative?

Ah, makes sense!

The quoted comment is for a different post: lemmy.ml/post/42339089/23675448
So I was surprised to see it being mentioned here.

This is some LLM-level of analysis right there (Lemmygrad.ml and hexbear.net are blocked from many instances, and people often lump lemmy.ml together into a triad, hence lemmy.ml must be automatically blocked as well!).
I’m the author of the comment you quoted, and even though you didn’t reply to me, I’d like to say that I assumed this because of this.
ignoring how e.g. lemmy.ml kicks people out of communities
Who is ignoring it? I think it was widely discussed on the Fediverse.

The problem with grabbing small snippets of code is a lot of context is lost.
To me, it was obvious that these parts were configurable. There were literally boolean checks for it.
But these features remind me Reddit.

What’s sad is that since
lemmy.mlis blocked by default, most PieFed users won’t see it. - Comment on The AYN Thor is looking like the perfect way to emulate dual-screen games 2 months ago:

I think the glasses are quite solid, but I haven’t dropped them yet 🙂
I never buy additional warranties.

how do you change its settings, like the aspect ratio, the dimming or the distance?
They have an OSD like in a regular monitor. You press the mode switch button twice to bring it and navigate using the ± brigness button. For dimming you hold the brightness rocker to start adjusting the dimming. For everything else there is an OSD menu like in a regular monitor. You bring it by double pressing the switch button and navigate with the brightness buttons.
how does it know where is forward in anchor mode? if you are sitting in a vehicle that is turning, can you keep it using as if nothing has happened?
It’s only 3 DoF without the eye add-on, so when you move, the monitor moves with you.
how do you do chores with it? I mean, what do you connect it to, and where do you place it so that it’s not in the way?
I just connect it to my Retroid Pocket Flip and put it into my pocket. Then I just enable side mode in the glasses, so it displays the image in the corner. And use my 8BitDo to navigate in the device.
what do you do to not get tangled in the cable, and to not get stuck on something?
The default cable is just very short :) It’s a distance from the glasses to my pocket with about extra 15-20 cm.

But it’s not VR. It’s basically an OLED monitor in front of my eyes.

Sorry, never owned it.
But if you are looking at a GNU/Linux device, I’d suggest to pick something supported by community distributions, such as Knulli or Rocknix.

I think it’s a panel from some phone that is no longer manufactured. But can confirm, it’s gorgeous (they use the same screen on RP Flip 2).

Same! Never posted or commented much on Reddit before, but now I post small reviews on stuff I own and announce libraries I make for Bevy. It’s not much, but it’s something :)

Yes!
Unfortunately, audio through the 3.5mm jack only works if you power on the console with headphones already plugged in.
Also, the setup is opinionated. For example, it stores save games alongside ROMs, while I use the default emulation directories on my PC. This makes syncing saves more difficult and it’s not something you can disable in the emulator setting, they hardcode these directories via scrips.
Lastly, the idle battery life is significantly worse, which matters to me since I prefer to put the device to sleep.
