Alan Wake is a game that should be right up my alley, but I don’t think it’s a particularly good game. It’s very repetitive, the gameplay doesn’t evolve that much. The story is fine, and the world is interesting. I haven’t played the sequel, particularly because I didn’t really enjoy my time with the first, but I’ve heard it’s much improved over the first.

I think it might be my favourite of the Ys series, to be honest. So simple and fun.

The latter two are a much more broad and prevalent issue in the gaming industry overall. No need for the whataboutism.

I’m looking forward to trying out FF9 next. Gonna take a bit of a break, as 45 hours of a FF game are enough for me for the next month or two. I’ve been going through all the mainline Zelda games as well, just reached Ocarina of Time. So I’ll be continuing that until I feel a hankering to go back to FF.

Played and beat Final Fantasy 8 for the first time. Bit of an unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed everything about it more than FF7 (which i also played for the first time a few months ago). As a long time JRPG player, the mechanics were really interesting and fresh. I liked the majority of characters more as well. Maybe it’s just the fact that I’m coming to these games 20+ years later and don’t have the nostalgia for them - I’m not sure. I can definitely see why people loved FF7, though I’m not one of them.
I’d love anybodies thoughts on this and their opinions on the two games!

Yea, I’m not going to give them any money. Fuck’em.

I’m currently going through every (mainline) Zelda game and replaying them. Took a bit of a break at Links Awakening, but I’d have to say my favourite 2D Zelda are Seasons/Ages, and my favourite 3D is Majora’s Mask.
Something about the worlds in those games that really draws me in.

I’ve not tried it, but I’m sure if you can connect a PS5 controller, you can use your PS4 controller. Look it up and give it a shot!

They sold to Full Screen, who much later sold to WB. The problem with selling yourself to a larger, public company.

Unfortunate, you’ve missed a great crew that found great chemistry after the pandemic.

There is, but not available yet. Look up BG3 Deluxe Edition.

“As long as it’s only cosmetics” has moved the goalposts from where we used to be on the matter. I completely agree it’s bullshit.
The Tales Of series has been bullshit. Used to be fun collecting new costumes from hidden events and side quests. Now half of the interesting costumes are either DLC or different edition bonuses which you can later purchase as DLC.

I would recommend MGS3, personally.

Is this your first time playing it? Or, like many people, at least 10th playthrough.

Fortunately, all of those books seem to be in my local library ebook app, so I’ve got some new reading to do, thank you for the wonderful breakdown!

Audiobook unfortunately isn’t much of an option for me due to attention issues. All I know is it’s been impossible for me to find the Starlight & Shadows series.
If you have any recommendations for Evans’ books I’d love to see if I can check those out, as well.

…I’ve already bought this game a bunch, but why not have another avenue in playing it? Truthfully I’ll still probably play the SNES version.

I’ve been searching all around for Cunningham books and I can’t find any. Not any libraries around here, virtual or physical. Not any used book stores. No where!

I’d love to hear why, personally. Wasn’t a huge fan of Alan Wake 1, so the huge outcry for the sequel has been a bit odd for me, and would like to hear the other wide of the coin.

I’ve just started Dragon Age: Origin. I’ve never played a Dragon Age game, I’m a couple hours in at this point. If anyone has any tips or advice, that’s be appreciated! Playing a Rogue Elf. I’m enjoying the lore and the world so far.

Do any of the reviews mention anything about the UI? One of my issues while watching the first releases videos and clips of this switch version was how boring and basic the UI was looking. Wondered if that was just a gripe on my end or if it effects some of the people to actutally play it. I understand it’s a small complaint but it can really change how a game is for me.

Yea, I wouldn’t give them any money, though. The actual creatures got fucked and any purchases of the game go to the people that fucked them. Great game, but I’d sail the seas for it.

I’ve been meaning to pick up Crystal Project (that price, wow!) But I learned it’s coming to Switch so have held off on it. After Sea of Stars, I need me some new JRPGs!

Funny, I absolutely love Ys Origin and can’t really stand the modern direction of the series. Been meaning to try the Trails games, but never knew where to start.

Now TF2 had some fun competitive matches. That takes me back.
I think you have a lot of good points here. One of the major issues is that Competetive esports meta bled into casual Overwatch.
