I could care less about the new widgets, but the rounded corners irk me. Don’t take away anything from my screen estate please.

Don’t worry, they compensated by making the buttons absolutely huge 🙃

To be clicked more easily with hand or eye tracking on galaxy XR :) i like it.

When I hover over the middle of the control bar, in the blank space, I get a pop-up like there’s supposed to be a button there that says “null”. I also hate how big the play/pause pop-up is on screen when you push that button, it takes almost a quarter of the screen!

I’m sure the whole dev team just vibe coded ts. And I haven’t searched, but I don’t think they put up an option to revert to the classic design

The rounded corners are cosmetic. Using the 3-dots menu you cannot put a video into more than playlist at once any longer. The checkboxes are gone and clicking the new bookmark icon next to a playlist closes the window.
I use it all the time to categorize music.

I just tested this… I am speachless

Designers are always just chasing the latest “border-radius” size

Still, devs should give a choice to decide, rather than imposing changes on users

Care to post a screenshot?

Do you see these rounded buttons? and the borders inside a borders? And the mismatched size of play button compared to others really do agro me. And when I have my 5:4 monitor (now I have 16:9), the duration video bar is so high up it is in 1/3 of the screen size

What is that? You mean padding?

Yeah mine literally switched between two videos. I was so confused. I also hate it from the bottom of my heart.

Got a screenshot?
I still see the UI I’ve seen for months on web and mobile native.

You watching a documentary about crisps?

Ahh yes. The “put everything in a little pill” design trend.

Apple has dictated to the Frontend devs that rounded round glass is back
simplejack@lemmy.world 1 day ago
IMHO, Apple just jumped onto a dumb dribbble trend that has been happening for a few years. Remove toolbars and put stuff in a small floating pane.
Seeing it in iOS will encourage more people to do this, but it’s not a trend Apple started. Their design team doesn’t have very many good original thoughts these days.

Microsoft is frantically trying to resurrect the Aero Glass theme.

Durability and the repairability are the top concerns for them, so we must forgive, they surely didn’t mean to sacrifice the phone integrity for the “futuristic looks”
