"Wario" is a Japanese portmanteu of Mario and "warui" (bad), but in Finnish "Wario" is also a homonym of "varjo", "shadow".

  And also, in English, W is an upside down M.

  I’m sure that everybody knows that, but it does count as a third language that uses a play on words to represent Wario as the yin to Mario’s Yang.
