    Cruelty is the point. When you don’t outright kill the people of Gaza (even though they’re doing that too), why not just make their life just not worth living?

    Likely multi purpose.

    Stop fishing for food. Stop keeping cool in heat. Stop attempts to import food by sea. Assert control to grind down.

    Next, they will shoot them for their own protection.

    Purpose or excuse?

    The purpose is to be cruel enough they leave without “making” them kill them.

    The excuse is they’re Hamas trying to plant bombs on blockade patrol craft.
