Under the FTC’s “Click to Cancel” rule, businesses would’ve had make it as easy to cancel subscriptions as it is to sign up. An appeals court has now struck that measure down.

What type of logic is this? Because rules didn’t force them to make it easier it will get harder?
Does putting a stop payment no longer work? That’s always been a nice “fuck you, let me cancel” option.
The biggest issue with this is the “contract” you “sign” when you do pay. Usually there are terms that let companies come after you. See Creative Cloud, Planet Fitness, and other movers in the “fuck you pay me” subscription world.
Doesn’t that only work on pre authorized payments from a bank account, not a credit card?
If companies make cancelling a pain, you can use Privacy.com to make virtual cards that are easy to disable or limit as you see fit. Downside is it’s basically debit passthrough, so no credit card points or protection, but still can be handy situationally.
Many credit cards also offer virtual cards for this exact reason.
Big limitation with privacy.com is that it requires US bank account.
Ah, fair! Didn’t think of that.
Now, why would anyone choose to cancel wearing the trihat?
Not really American anyway to cancel. Gotta support the corps.
