Not your cup of tea, I take it?
SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 hours ago
Not op, but I love tea; however, if the restaurants I frequent started replacing their drinks with a new lineup that ultimately all boiled down to variations on Darjeeling, I’d eventually find myself tired of it.

You don’t want to parry bullets, roll and ask for forgiveness from Zapruder?

I would say “not every game needs to be a souls game”.
I’m skeptical of this game learning from souls, but the hype train remains

every game is dark souls

I guess Tom Nook is in for a surprise.

But that 4 block single line Tetris piece has been waiting for this after decades of eliminating row upon row of its block buddies.

Owlcat can pull this off, at least from the storytelling side. The shooter gameplay is something I haven’t seen from them, so let’s hope that’ll work out.
I’m hyped.

New engine, new gameplay style, new [licensed] IP. Lots of variables. Owlcat’s exploded in size recently but I can’t quite tell yet if this is their big swing like BG3 was for Larian.
I’m also confident the writing will be competent, and Ty and Daniel have have a good track record of being available to assist on adaptations. I just hope I like the player characters more this time around. I didn’t quite click with anyone in the Pathfinder games (haven’t tried Rogue Trader yet).

Oh, Daeran must be one of my all time favorite RPG characters, even though I hated him initially. Regill and Ember are great too.

Really? I’ve only played Kingmaker but while uneven I thought they had some good ones. I really liked both Jubilost and Nok-Nok, I thought Harrim was a pretty interesting character and Jae’thal was enjoyable too.

I’m commander Shepherd, and this is my favourite cue on the citadel.
Mist101@lemmy.world 18 hours ago
The show already took cues from Mass Effect, which I thought was done very well.
The one that stood out to me most was when
Tap for spoiler
Bobby finds out the martians are smuggling for Inaros and there is a scene where she is running to catch them, but fails. It was almost exactly the same feeling as running in ME 3, and it just felt good all round. More of that kind of inspiration, please!

I find Souls games boring, but this particular aspect wouldn’t bother me. It’s common in other genres as well, like deck-builders.
CosmoNova@lemmy.world 13 hours ago
I would have much more trust in their vision if the creative director did compare it to a deck-builder instead of more souls slop.
To be fair it‘s not clear to me whether the author of the article or the CD made that comparison but seeing how many huge and beloved IPs they‘re throwing around doesn‘t make me hopeful unfortunately. I‘d rather see them show off their (hopefully deep) understanding of the toolbox they‘re working with than dropping big names like Mass Effect, Baldur’s Gate 3 or Darksouls.
