Have a look at the Heroic Launcher. I remember reading it included a feature to play some Windows games in compatibility mode or something?
Apart from that I guess it’s Geforce Now, Amazon Luna etc…

Looks good so thanks for the recommendation.

- Comment on Do you preorder games? 1 week ago:
I don’t pre-order but I do buy early access games. Unless it’s something genuinely limited edition and unique there is not reason to risk buying before release.

Astro’s Playroom
In anticipation for the kids (and me) getting Astro Bot tomorrow I’ve been finishing up with all the artifacts and puzzle pieces. The game is actuality quite wonderful with the nostalgia and gameplay so I’m really looking forward to playing the next game :)

Most of them aren’t my kind of thing but I’m happy to get Hogwarts Legacy and Outer Wilds.
- Comment on What is the cheapest console to get and collect for that still holds up? 1 week ago:
If you want something modern then I would recommend an Xbox One S (or a One X if you can find it cheap enough) because of the backwards compatability with pevious consoles and a lot of games are dirt cheap nowadays. Also as a bluray player or streaming stuff if you want that too.

Xbox One S or X is a really good choice if they want to buy physical games. Great backwards compatability and it plays blurays too.

I have mixed opinions on physical media but. I’m starting to agree with you on this point. In the past I’m all for having the option to buy it on disc/cartridge but when you have to install the game anyway and download a day one patch it kinda defeats the purpose of it. Also offline mode on consoles if just a joke at this point.

Project Gotham Racing 4
It’s a shame that the series isn’t backwards compatible on the newest Xbox because they are awesome games. Driving has a really nice feel to it (not so much for the motorcycles), the circuit locations are all so well done and genuinely interesting to look at and race on. £2 well spent!

Sega was pretty wild with innovation back in the day.

We’ll cut to the chase: In collaboration with multiple parties, we have recovered over 100 new Sega Channel ROMs, including system data, exclusive games, and even prototypes that were never published. We’ve also digitized internal paperwork and correspondence that reveals how Sega Channel operated, how it was marketed, and what would’ve come next for the service.

Rollcage comes to mind straight away. 90s and early 00s games were full of jungle and drum & bass.
- Comment on Hands-On With the Miyoo Mini Flip; The Modern Successor to the GBA SP (my review) 2 weeks ago:
If I didn’t already have a Miyoo Flip v2 I would buy this version in a heartbeat. The love the clamshell design and portability of these things is a huge upside and I take it everywhere with me. I have been using MinUI on mine and it works great (especially quick save state and resume on open) but after reading your article I decided to change it up and move over to Knulli which has a lot more options.

Citizen Sleeper
It’s been a couple years since my first playthrough but enjoying it just as much this time. It’s definitely a solid top 10 game for me so I really need to buy the sequel after I’m done.

Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront
I’ve been playing through the Finnish campaign and also some dynamic conquest on hard difficulty and getting absolutely destroyed by the ai :(

- Comment on steam vs gog, which game store to buy from? 4 weeks ago:
It’s ok to use all the different stores.
Personally I use Steam for anything that has online functions and/or early access and GOG for everything else. Also I will buy direct from the developer (eg something like Software Inc) if I can but that option is getting harder to do.
- Comment on What retro handhelds are the best value? 4 weeks ago:
I have a Flip v2 and think it’s great. Very nice to use and carry around but the thumbsticks are average quality. It’s probably my favourite to take out with me.
So far I’ve tried a couple different firmware, MinUI and Knulli, and everything up to PS1 emulation is good but stuff like N64/DC/PSP can be problematic.

It didn’t really take off to begin with but dual screen support like Supreme Commander had with the real-time map overview on the 2nd monitor. It could be a skirmish map or live track map for a racing game, live scoreboard, player status or inventory system.

I have the slim model and it was surprisingly easy with a good tutorial video and a set or torx screwdrivers.
As for controllers I also did that too with a good clean and new thumbsticks but sorry can’t help with any 3rd party recommendations.

I decided to dust off the Xbox 360 and played a couple games that aren’t available on the new consoles. I also gave it a refresh with new thermal paste, bearing oil for the fan and a good clean. It’s running great now.
Burnout Crash, it’s a top down version of crash mode from the main games.
Swarm, you collect 50 swarmites and make your way through the levels using student abilities.
- Comment on Settings you believe ANY game should have? (This is me advocating for a restart/reboot button on ALL games) 5 weeks ago:
That is a reason why offline installers are so important. At the very least we should be able to disable auto updates and still launch the (outdated) game.
