I don’t know what I’m doing but I’m here now…
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 1 week ago:
Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront
I’ve been playing through the Finnish campaign and also some dynamic conquest on hard difficulty and getting absolutely destroyed by the ai :(
- Comment on Do you cheat in video games? 1 week ago:
It’s hard not to when player 4 player GoldenEye :D
- Comment on steam vs gog, which game store to buy from? 1 week ago:
It’s ok to use all the different stores.
Personally I use Steam for anything that has online functions and/or early access and GOG for everything else. Also I will buy direct from the developer (eg something like Software Inc) if I can but that option is getting harder to do.
- Comment on What retro handhelds are the best value? 1 week ago:
I have a Flip v2 and think it’s great. Very nice to use and carry around but the thumbsticks are average quality. It’s probably my favourite to take out with me.
So far I’ve tried a couple different firmware, MinUI and Knulli, and everything up to PS1 emulation is good but stuff like N64/DC/PSP can be problematic.
- Comment on A cool feature/mechanic you want to see in games again 1 week ago:
Yeah I do all that myself with ETS2 but wanted to give another example.
- Comment on A cool feature/mechanic you want to see in games again 2 weeks ago:
Yeah I guess I am. Just give it to us in a bigger form…

It didn’t really take off to begin with but dual screen support like Supreme Commander had with the real-time map overview on the 2nd monitor. It could be a skirmish map or live track map for a racing game, live scoreboard, player status or inventory system.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 2 weeks ago:
I have the slim model and it was surprisingly easy with a good tutorial video and a set or torx screwdrivers.
As for controllers I also did that too with a good clean and new thumbsticks but sorry can’t help with any 3rd party recommendations.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 2 weeks ago:
I decided to dust off the Xbox 360 and played a couple games that aren’t available on the new consoles. I also gave it a refresh with new thermal paste, bearing oil for the fan and a good clean. It’s running great now.
Burnout Crash, it’s a top down version of crash mode from the main games.
Swarm, you collect 50 swarmites and make your way through the levels using student abilities.
- Comment on Settings you believe ANY game should have? (This is me advocating for a restart/reboot button on ALL games) 2 weeks ago:
That is a reason why offline installers are so important. At the very least we should be able to disable auto updates and still launch the (outdated) game.

Internet Connection - On/Off
- Comment on One hour into Gears 5 and I feel its a lot better than 4 3 weeks ago:
I’m not sure what Halo has to do with it? Also from what I remember Gears was a huge franchise back in the peak Xbox 360 days so of course it got sequels
- Comment on One hour into Gears 5 and I feel its a lot better than 4 3 weeks ago:
I got bored of the semi open-world part but it was still much better than Gears 4.
- Comment on Games that I finished this year so far. Probably the best year of gaming for me since 2007 3 weeks ago:
That’s impressive. I’m more of a “play everything but finish nothing” kind of player…
- Comment on Death Stranding: The journey actually matters 3 weeks ago:
They really did do a great job on gameplay. About half way through I realised that increasing the difficulty level, not using vehicles and barely using weapons was the perfect way to play DS. Items what were rarely used actually become useful (eg, sandalweed and repair sprays), building/upgrading structures becomes meaningful and appreciating other players more because of the connection I felt. I would walk across the entire snowy mountain pulling 2 carriers of packages and it would take me like 90 minutes for one journy but it went by so quickly :) Also you find points of interest like the giant cryptobiote corals and the Japanses torii style gateway.
- Comment on EA Announces No F1 26 Next Year, F1 25 Will Get a Major Expansion Instead 3 weeks ago:
With the significant rule changes I can see why they would do it this way.
- Comment on This brilliant Skies of Arcadia is 25, so here's the story of why a screeching noise and a sense of terror is the main thing I remember about it 3 weeks ago:
I’m not a fan of the genre either but this is one of the few exceptions. I started a play through (fairly) recently and it holds up very well graphically but does fail in other areas as I would say it is racist in it’s depiction of different cultures. So along with that I also think it one of the games where source code is patchy at best so I doubt a remake/post will ever happen.

GTA IV
The only reason I bought it was to play the FusionFix mod that was released last month as it looks amazing and fixes and improves so much. I haven’t played it since the Xbox 360 release so really looking forward to it!

I didn’t realise this existed so thanks from me. Also probably the best answer here.
- Comment on What's a recent game you've tried playing that isn't worth the hype? 5 weeks ago:
I’d go for CO:E33 too. Its a decent enough game but I don’t understand the absolute hype it receives. Probably a 5/10 game for me.
- Comment on As the GamerCard preps to ship, a slew of Shorts are now available showcasing how the handheld plays 5 weeks ago:
I’m interested to see how this one turns out. I love the design, mostly how slim it is, but those control button things do not look nice to use.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 5 weeks ago:
Still playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance but it’s becoming a bit of a chore now so Colin McRae Rally 2.0 on PS1 also gets a shout out.
- Comment on Which year was the most stacked for game releases? 5 weeks ago:
I’d go back to maybe 1997 bit there are so many good years to choose from.
- Comment on The Last Truly Custom Nintendo: A 3DS Retrospective 5 weeks ago:
I really liked my 3DS and especially StreetPass and getting all those puzzles pieces. I’d take it to work with me everyday but once I lost all my progress I eventually just stopped playing on it.
I’m keeping an eye on the new dual screen handhelds but will wait a bit longer and see how it fares.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 1 month ago:
I know I’ve played it before but that would be back in the day 20+ years ago. So it feels like my first time again.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 1 month ago:
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
There was a firmware update (Knulli) for my Flip handheld so after doing that I’m now playing FFTA and other random GBA games.
