I buy a box of pita chips and a tub of hummus.

Either I finish the chips and still have hummus, or finish the hummus and still have chips.

Why are they not a perfect ratio so that the last chip gets the last bit of hummus? 😩

Put hummus in your sandwiches or something, it’s a great condiment.

Well technically hamburgers were never actually hamburgers, it’s an abbreviation for hamburg steaks.

Well technically that is not an abbreviation. That is a portmanteau.

It comes from hamburger steaks. Adding -er to the end of a city name in German and English (now to a lesser extent) forms an adjective meaning from that city or a noun meaning someone or something from that city. Another example is frankfurter, which comes from frankfurter Wurst.
