Technically, its only a hamburger if it comes from the hamburg region of Germany. Everything else is sparkling beef.

Hamburg is a port town and specializes in fish. Ever eaten a burger in Hamburg? I have, they’re fucking terrible. People from Hamburg are called “Hamburgers” in German. More likely is that an immigrant from Hamburg (port cities were the gateway for emigration) created sandwiches elsewhere (probably the US) and the name came from that.
