Ah yes… Making the cancellation process easier for consumers means it must inherently become a worse service.
Comment on AG Letitia James wins $740,000 settlement from online mental health provider Cerebral

Does that mean the service will be worse going forward. Potentially endangering lives

No I really think the person you are replying to means that because they will need to pay this settlement, then the company will have less money to provide the service hence endangering lives…like somehow it’s this person’s fault…
Won’t anyone think of the corporations! /s

Those boots must be real tasty.

What boots. Care to elaborate your very punchy response

“potentially endangering lives” is your main takeaway from a predatory online mental health corporation being held accountable for abusing their patients.
meaning, you’re licking some corporate boots.
… you also missed the part where mental health corporations deceiving and abusing patients is definitely endangering lives.Mojojojo1993@lemmy.world 10 months ago
I hadn’t read the article when I commented. I read it and agree they were in the wrong. Doesn’t change my question though. Obviously depending on if they care for mental unwell and would actually be involved in a reduction of suicide or not.
But you don’t care about that. The mad flurry off comments is pretty damning.
Hope your new year doesn’t require any mental help assistance.
I sure as shit wouldn’t be helping you

If by “the service”, you mean “online mental health providers”, then no, the service will not get worse. Patients will be fine.
If by “the service”, you mean “Cerebral’s health services”, then yes. They can collapse for all I care.
Mojojojo1993@lemmy.world 10 months ago
As in with the settlement they pay out. They would have less money and can’t staff as well. Was my point.
Kinda cunty on this aye
ook_the_librarian@lemmy.world 10 months ago
That money was ill gained. The court applied laws. That money is not theirs now. What kind of hellscape are you advocating?
surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 10 months ago
If they choose to take the money away from the services budget instead of CEO pay, then that’s on them.
Mojojojo1993@lemmy.world 10 months ago
True. Suppose they could do that. They won’t but sure

And I hope that gives the ethical competitors a foothold in their ass.

I’d insert some quote about fear here, but I don’t know a good one off-hand. In any case, I don’t believe it to be a good excuse.
Mojojojo1993@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Can you elaborate a bit ?
It’s not a good excuse. Was just a question
11181514@lemmy.world 10 months ago
You didn’t ask a question. You made two statements implying that holding this company accountable for illegal actions, robbing people of money, is harmful.
Go fuck yourself.
Mojojojo1993@lemmy.world 10 months ago
No fuck you. Do you work in mental health. ? No. Then fuck off.
Do you have people killing themselves on the other fucking line ? No
Fuck off
I do not condone corporations, I do when loves are put at risk. That I then have to deal with.

No, it wasn’t, and you know it. It’s very transparent.
mosiacmango@lemm.ee 10 months ago
What a weird take. The company was breaking NY law by making cancellation nearly impossible. This settlement forces them to follow the law.
Are you saying healtchare businesses should be exempt from laws because “service will be worse” if they follow them?
Why would letting people cancel a subscription service simply “potentially endanger lives?”
Mojojojo1993@lemmy.world 10 months ago
No. I never once said or insinuated that
wagoner@infosec.pub 10 months ago
Do you have a better way?

No
toiletobserver@lemmy.world 10 months ago
Anyone with difficult to cancel services is trying to scam all customers eventually, like a bad gym or satellite radio. If they have to legally change their service structure, that sounds like an improvement.
