They might have advertised this one better, though I can’t prove that beyond vibes.

Resident Evil 4 remake peaked at 168k players. Does anybody know why this one is so much more famous? It’s almost double the count.

That would be nuts to me, I just heard of this new RE game this week!

They brought Leon back.

They made Leon hotter by asking women on the dev team for feedback on his design.

Remakes will never be as popular as new games.

No, but Resident Evil 4 Remake was definitely an upgrade for the original game, unlike others “remakes” that only change the button interface.

And it was the best Resident Evil for a very long time. Honestly, being the best can cut both ways. I’ve avoided buying remakes for some of my favorite games because “I’ve already played the campaign 5 times, am I really gonna pay $60 to play it a 6th?”

I used it for comparison because it even had a bigger peak than resident evil 8 (which is 106k).

The last 10 years or so, there was a sort of “Old RE” and “New RE” set of fans. The new games have really kept their distance from existing lore, and the gameplay has been very different from the older games.
This is the first new Resident Evil game in a long time that promises to bring the old lore back to the forefront, as well as merging the two styles of game.

I’m one of them!
Well…kinda. I have zero interest in Resident Evil outside of Raccoon City, and I’m a very recent player.
RE4 onwards just took things to a location and direction I have no interest in, so seeing this one take me ‘back’…I’m in!
