Used to be that disk jockeys also got to pick what they played to an extent. Now it’s all just predetermined lists nationwide brought to you by iHeartRadio.

Used to be we would share mixtapes… I really miss that.
- Comment on 4 days ago:
I miss the days of people having their own bespoke collection of their favorite movies and shows. Everything is homogenized now. At least when I pirate, I’m still building my own personal media library. And I never have to worry about the show I like being removed later.
But I’m not gonna lie. The quality drop off in content caused by streaming services I think is a bigger issue
Netflix activity tries to make content that’s not actually good enough to watch without browsing a phone. Second screen content, they call it. And I guarantee someone in a finance role realized they could make way more by doing just enough to keep people, rather than try to actively create amazing content, because it’s soo much cheaper to not pay for good writers, or good set designers or actors when you could just find someone who’s good enough. I think it’s because the money people spend is recurring, linked to the service as a whole, and not linked to the individual work… users have to vote by watching now, and some of the best stuff I’ve ever seen is also some of the least watched.

Interesting argument seeing as your product allowed and actively encouraged him to violate your own TOS.

And that’s why he’ll fail.

Of course epic doesn’t understand empowering consumers with information. They don’t care about consumers. If they did, they’d maybe try adding some long requested features to their storefront.

I’m waiting for the montage clip of Geoff just saying “Clair Obscure expedition 33” & “Death Stranding 2 On the Beach” over and over and over.
Those two freaking dominated.
- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 3 weeks ago:
I posted this in the other thread, but wanna share here too:
Most interesting thing to me is the Frame apparently runs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and is using SteamOS, implying official ARM support for SteamOS, Steam and Proton! Could mean steam and proton coming to android too.

I love it when that happens with a game. Getting blindsided by something truly exceptional is such a surreal experience.

Some trees can continue to grow for hundreds to thousands of years before just dying and rotting away. I don’t see the carbon capture machines lasting that long without steady power and maintenance.

Not just Gen Z lol. People don’t have money, games are a luxury, luxuries are the first to go when you need to stretch your cash. Not that complicated.

Their wealth means nothing to them if they can’t use it as influence. It’s all they truly care about.
That influence will end with their heads rolling.

Is it just me or is it a bit disingenuous to call a 1/6 scale action figure a statue?
- Comment on Day 370 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing 4 months ago:
I slept on the dead rising series until the remake came out. Then I picked up the original, 2, and off the record.
All of them are fantastic games and it’s such a shame they killed the whole series with the 3rd game.

Psychonauts. I’m upset I slept on this game for so long. It’s very charming.

You’re right. But the payment card is definitely dystopian and designed to maximize fees from the users for every aspect. It should be required by law that these businesses give alternative options for receiving payments, or remove any sort of fees.
- Comment on Ubisoft EULA demanding consumers destroy delisted games adds fuel to Stop Killing Games movement 4 months ago:
Because a good lawyer looks for any sort of far reaching authority they can legally get away with, and will continues to push boundaries as legally far as they can until they get challenged. All in the name of protecting themselves from liability.
I don’t like it, but I get it. And these things can fall apart when challenged in court or public opinion.
Makes me think of the guy who died from an allergy at Disney land and Disney tried to say he couldn’t sue because of his Disney plus agreement.
Lawyers put in all kinds of legal clauses specifically to try and avoid any and all liability on anything imaginable or unimaginable. Most times it’s beyond what anyone would call reasonable. But we aren’t dealing with reasonable people.
- Comment on Ubisoft EULA demanding consumers destroy delisted games adds fuel to Stop Killing Games movement 4 months ago:
Yep I believe that’s what this is. I’ve seen clauses like this in other stuff too. Pretty boiler plate. Not like they can actually enforce it.
