Yeah actually the ones i’ve known were not in the US, where personnel is cheaper. They had drivers and nannies but no bodyguards that’s true.
Comment on There are only like 3,000 billionaires and they're not physically imposing people.
ivanafterall@lemmy.world 10 hours agoThey can, but do they? The richest people I knew were proud of being cheap. Drove themselves around, went out of their way to pay less for a can of Coke, that kind of thing. None had private security, and at least two were worth nine figures.

The Societal Contract is still in place, and they’re counting on it always being in effect. When the day comes that it hits its expiration date, they’ll be the last to find out.

Had a rich friend in college, think ~10s of millions?( ¿I am totally making up a number, I had no idea) But they took me to a party in a remote neighborhood that had an airport complete with multiple helipads. Or at least there were a half dozen on the side off the tarmac.
You don’t know these people, they live in their own world’s. There’s a local chain of dealerships I’ve only heard whispers about the owner, he doesn’t go out in town.

Yeah that’s it. They don’t mingle with us poors. They generally don’t need security because there’s no way us poors can get where they are. And when they need security, they have it in bunches.

You make it sound like they live on the moon. While there might be no easy “law abiding” way to get to them, this doesn’t exactly sound like a law abiding conversation.
