the hard-line Democratic socialists all started migrating because communists upset them
Comment on It's been a while, which Lemmy instances should I be on?

Nah, you’re a tankie.
You can easily find Anarchists on PieFed either on Quokk.au or Anarchist.Nexus though for anyone who wants to join us.
dickalan@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Why is that supposed to be an insult, I know nothing of tankie But was called one a couple days ago
Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 month ago
Tankies are people who supported the use of tanks to attack the civilian protests against the USSR in Hungary and later Czechoslovakia. That became the default term for anyone who supports brutal authoritarian states that suppress the people to assert their control. In modern day context a tankie would be someone who blames Ukraine for being invaded and denies the genocide of the Uyghurs.
Some rightwing/centrists like to use it to insult any leftist. You can just ignore those ones.

name calling is pretty rude, believe it or not it’s possible to be an anarchist and not use one of your instances. for me I find anarchists in my day to day organizing, separate from the internet
davel@lemmy.ml 1 month ago
Were they hard-line demsocs, or were they really just “progressive” liberals?
Diva@lemmy.ml 1 month ago
I’m probably being too generous, but they do tend to identify as that

The bots are talking to themselves, oh no
Skavau@piefed.social 1 month ago
That’s partially true, but not all true at all. Piefed development is way faster currently than Lemmy.
Fugit@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
Personally, communists don’t bother me. Transphobic developers, however, don’t make me want to use their software.
poVoq@slrpnk.net 1 month ago
join.piefed.social/try/ has a list. There just arn’t that many yet but anarchist.nexus is a solid choice.
Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 month ago
We didn’t want to be lending any form of support to developers who deny genocide and promote transphobia.
So we found a more ethical solution and than it turns out the developers are fucking amazing and it’s progressing so fast that it’s leaving Lemmy in the dust. Many people are now moving because it’s offering features and improvements that the Lemmy devs refused to.

Accusations of genocide denial isn’t the cheat code you think it is, or do you not deny the genocide of white South Africans? And what say you to this one? Previously.
And if accusations of promoting transphobia held any water, blahaj & hexbear would have already defederated from us.

Yes, I know that’s all you’ve got as far as lemmy.ml promoting transphobia goes.
Wren@lemmy.today 1 month ago
Wait, THIS is what people are talking about when they say the devs are transphobic?
The dev admitting he said stupid shit in private, supports human rights for everyone, and his personal views should have nothing to do with his work?
Consider the first rule of the Lemmy code of Conduct is:

More countries doing a genocide is not an argument against another one doing it

Thanks for the explanation.
I’m glad that it’s not important.
