- Comment on Australia should pass bill to ban non-prescription vapes, Senate committee finds 1 week ago:
Big tobacco are the same people selling those vapes. The bill is going to nip that revenue stream in the bud before it can mature.
- Comment on Mona: Australia women's-only museum files appeal to keep men out 1 week ago:
It’s actually pretty wild how successful it is. All of Walshie’s/MONA’s previous stunts have only generated local controversy. This one has transcended borders. Most of us here have grown pretty desensitised to Walshie’s antics so personally it’s quite fun seeing the world get a taste of undiluted Walshie.
- Comment on Mona: Australia women's-only museum files appeal to keep men out 1 week ago:
Another fun fact, two men actually sued. One dropped the issue after being told the purpose of the art installation and realised he was about to be made a spectacle, the other went full steam ahead.
- Comment on Mona: Australia women's-only museum files appeal to keep men out 1 week ago:
Depends on how much money the exhibit draws. Iirc the Wall of Vaginas was supposed to be temporary but it’s still up as far as I know.
- Comment on Mona: Australia women's-only museum files appeal to keep men out 1 week ago:
MONA is famous here for doing all sorts of controversial shit. This one time they sacrificed and butchered a cow live on stage. A women’s only space is tame and on brand. Everyone’s been baited

So are we letting them get away with it or will there be consequences?

Shanks was unable to defend himself in the former case because Balilaro invoked parliamentary privilege on evidence Shanks wanted to use.

Pay your fucking workers, Clive.

Lol the CIA doesn’t need one. ASIO hands them whatever they want personally.

Me: “do you close the bathroom door while shitting?”
Them: “yes”
Me: “why? You have nothing to hide”
- Comment on Yes, ‘Australian sushi’ exists. Get over it, argues Adam Liaw 5 months ago:
That’s Chicago deep dish. New York pizza is what we get here. The crust is thicker than Italian and is loaded with more toppings.
- Comment on Disney has announced it will stop releasing DVDs and Blu-ray discs in Australia. 9 months ago:
Some of us never stopped. Yar harr harr.
- Comment on Digital identity loophole allowed $557m in fraudulent claims, ATO reveals 9 months ago:
Seems like fining businesses enough to threaten them as a going concern might make them take security more seriously. Might also stop every single goddamn online storefront asking you to sign up to make a purchase.
As for the ATO, I understand why they want to make things as convenient as possible for people. Unlike Medicare or Centrelink where people need their services, the ATO wants to make things easy so people put in their returns.
- Comment on What the merger between retail giants Kmart and Target could mean for your weekly shopping routine 9 months ago:
Yep, I get all my kids clothes from kmart/target. No point getting expensive clothes when they’ll outgrow them anyway.

- Comment on Coalition attacks rooftop solar inverters in new scare campaign against renewables 9 months ago:
My problem with nuclear is that it’ll inevitably be run by a greedy corporation that will cut corners to make a profit. The failure mode of wind/hydro/solar isn’t catastrophic.
- Comment on Coalition attacks rooftop solar inverters in new scare campaign against renewables 9 months ago:
I just don’t get it.
The answer you’re looking for is racism, religion and riches.

I use Whirlpool or Ozbargain to get Australia-centric reviews and recommendations. They’re decent for getting that info.

Bet someone doing that would just get trespassed and banned from the store.
- Comment on Big W removes sex education book from shelves after staff members abused 9 months ago:
We need to dismantle the media monopoly before then. That cunt Murdoch and his ilk have an outsized influence on our political landscape. They’re taking too many lessons learned with managing Americans and using them here.
