Srsly Wrong's latest podcast talked a lot about how oil companies funded grassroots pro oil campaigns and then linked it to our larger culture and how we can't trust anyone anymore.
I never thought I'd be able to say not trusting each other is big oils fault, but here we are

- Comment on Ukrainian forces withdraw from Avdiivka to avoid encirclement, army chief says 8 months ago:
A year ago there was a lot of talk about how winter would force defensive posturing and advancement for either side could only happen outside of winter.
There's few spots where Ukraine is gaining ground. North of Tokmak there seems to be a decent offensive. There's a lot of places where they're losing ground.
Bakmut isn't even a front line anymore.Ukraine had a chance when they were being supplied by the West. Any hiccups there are disastrous.
Besides the initial counteroffensive, Ukraine has depended on Western aid to stay in this fight. I've seen a lot of talk about how weak the Russian military was/is, but they've effectively taken on NATO. This should be a wakeup call. Not whatever other type of propaganda this is

Pick an issue. Literally any issue. Canada isn't on the morally right side (with the exception of supporting Ukraine's war for freedom).
People are fine. Landscape is amazing. Government at all levels needs to be gone. We'd be better off with actual criminal mobs running everything. They'd at least be competent - Comment on DragonFire: UK fires high-power laser at aerial targets for first time - with 'intense beam of light' able to cut through drones 9 months ago:
You're not wrong, but at that power level anything longer than a short pulse is going to vaporize the stuff in the way.
They probably take that into consideration and pulse the lazer before giving a more consistent shot.
Clearing out the path before shooting the shot.
Maybe they have a ring around the primary shot as well. Vaporizing the stuff that could get in the way of the primary attack.
These people are smart. It's easier to assume they've taken that into consideration - Comment on The reason why Apple is still successful while other tech companies continue to dig their own graves 10 months ago:

Lots of labs don't need the highest end equipment, and the ones that do could sell the old ones.
That would work if we didn't have everything set up to throw out, which is a different problem all together. I've worked in IT procurement for a fairly big corporation, and I've seen dumpsters filled with slightly old iPhones because it made more sense to accounting. - Comment on abandonware empires 1 year ago:
I 100% would. It's short term loss for long term gain.

This is about US hegemony in the middle east. It has very little to do with a little strip.

I'm also pretty far left. I'm not a tankie though. I'm curious how much of the complaining is just right wingers bitching about reasonable opinions
