- Comment on 10 Best Anime About Cooking & Food 5 days ago:
Even when it’s not the main focus, it’s always enjoyable when there’s some real love put into a cooking or eating scene.
- Comment on Mexican President Organizes Song Contest To Counter Popular Genre Glorifying Cartels 6 days ago:
That’s pretty surreal like all those family sitcom episodes where they save an orphanage by winning a battle of the bands came to life.
- Comment on CVE fallout: The splintering of the standard vulnerability tracking system has begun 6 days ago:
Could it be a good candidate for federation? There’s already a few naming standards that would allow a bit of a common ground. And maybe eliminate a few of the big points of failure.

Please put them on, Takemina-san. It’s on Crunchyroll if that’s how you roll.
- Comment on Now this is something new 2 weeks ago:
A new anime where that woman travels back in time by removing her underwear (which ceases to exist).
- Comment on Japan to sell more rice reserves as prices soar 2 weeks ago:
Domestic policy limiting production to protect farmers is more the cause than tourists and quakes.
- Comment on Japan to sell more rice reserves as prices soar 2 weeks ago:
Domestic policy. The article says tourist and quakes but really Japan limits production to prevent prices from falling to the point of bankrupting farmers.
- Comment on Hmm Good Concept Mad Scientist will like it 2 weeks ago:
Oh geeze, I watched this out of curiosity. When the time travel happens, the underwear that was removed ceases to exist so she always brings extra with her.
Anyway, the show isn’t so bad it’s good, it’s just boring and stupid.
- Comment on Benefits of ADHD medication outweigh health risks, study finds 2 weeks ago:
We’ve known ADHD cuts years off a person’s life for a while. Here’s a talk from an expert that uses data from 2019: youtu.be/FI7i5iphdLk
He’s given talks about the dangers of untreated ADHD at least 10 years ago and probably further back.
- Comment on In your opinion, which anime has the most badass villains? 2 weeks ago:
Knives from the old Trigun. Horrible and capable. The colony ships, July, Rem’s relatives, the flying city, and the goals and actions of the Gung-Ho Guns, especially Legato.

I’d say don’t yuck someone’s yum but I tried league of legends years ago and it’s why I avoid any game that makes me interact with strangers.

mainichi.jp/english/articles/20240823/…/024000c
From just last year, this article says it’s not tourism, climate change, etc., but a domestic policy of limiting rice production to keep prices from crashing. It says if all of Japan’s usable land was used, Japan would produce more rice than India and export a bunch.

Considering how often a single holodeck tries to take over the ship/kill its occupants/malfunctions, the fewer the better.

Yeah, so the only good that will come of it are the protest photos and videos.
- Comment on Can you guys recommend romance manga? 1 month ago:
I was thinking of how I found some of the ones I’ve really enjoyed recently. Mangadex has a decent filter system that can have inclusion and exclusion criteria, like must have ninjas but can’t have lolis. Image And the most important criteria of all: only showing ones that are completed. Some of us aren’t made to read things as they trickle out only to have them suddenly cancelled (looking at you, Dress up Darling).
I just use it to describe what I’m looking for and then sort the results by rating. That’s how I came across Alice-san Chi no Iroribata (others have mentioned it) and Ao no hana.
For ones not mentioned elsewhere:
Sono Koi wa Ichigo no Youni - Strawberries and farming and romance.
Insomniacs after school - I usually can’t stand a school setting, but really enjoyed this. Astronomy themed.
- Comment on Can you guys recommend romance manga? 1 month ago:
+1s for Alice-san and Ao no Hana. Both include some interesting stuff about open hearths and pottery, respectively.

Telework convinced me to brush up on my Japanese. I’ve really enjoyed the author’s work because adults communicate and actually have sex, so there’s so much less toxic behavior and false tension (read: padding) than in most of the other things I’ve read. Telework is also a single volume if OP wants a taste before diving into the longer series.

- Comment on no, someone making a “stupid question”, genuinely needing advice, or typing similar to a bad person is not always an alt or a troll 2 months ago:
It’s impossible to tell if someone is asking in good faith or not. Bad money drives out good and all coins are treated as shaved. It doesn’t matter if yours aren’t. There are too many people asking in bad faith. If you want to know something controversial, there are places you can find out without making somebody else do the same work that other resources already have done.

That’s why I couldn’t get into a lot of the newer Trek stuff. Older stuff felt aspirational, but the newer stuff did not.

Sally Dibbs: 250.
Charlie: Pretty close.
Sally Dibbs: There’s four left in the back.

Structure, security, fraternity, simplicity. There’s definitely some appeal there, but maybe there are easier ways to find those things.
