Reliable clean energy isn’t a solved issue today either. Until we have grid-level storage we need something that can provide a reliable base and had enough mass/momentum to handle grid fluctuations.

If only people weren’t fearmongering about nuclear 50 years ago we’d have clean energy today.

Thanks for the link! Will definitely check out my top played games, unfortunately I play a lot of multiplayer games like Dota, Hunt, CS and War Thunder.
Photo editing and 3d modelling is something I do a lot which is a deal-breaker for me personally. Blender works on Linux afaik but stuff like substance painter/designer, Houdini, plasticity etc I don’t know

Thanks for the detailed reply. VR isn’t a deal-breaker for me currently but your last paragraph is great, most of the videos I’ve watched have echoed that sentiment of “It works great… Most of the time”
I do want to give Linux a try when I have some time over for trouble shooting and fixing. I feel like a Mac person when I say that lol, “I just want it to work”

How has your gaming journey been so far? Games and general programs are the main reason why in still on Windows

You sound like the people criticising NASA for spending money on science. “Who do X when Y is still an issue?”
I doubt you make that kind of prioritization with your own money.

Is the US a country? Is Australia a country? I doubt the natives decided they were. Very weird way to define a country, regardless of your thoughts on Israel / Palestine

How is Starship dumb exactly? Making a new thing at any extreme of our current capability is going to be hard and its not unexpected when something goes wrong. What would be dumb is if they put human lives on the line

Everything bad that’s happening anywhere is the west’s fault, haven’t you been keeping up? /s
It’s pretty interesting when people denounce the west (which isn’t unfounded) but then give zero agency to anyone else.
- Comment on Why Everyone Should Still Use an RSS Reader in 2024 9 months ago:
I want to get into RSS but all the apps I’ve tried have been lacking. I want to subscribe to the Factorio blog and be able to see their GIFs/videos directly but so far no app has been able to do that. Either they don’t load any images (wtf?) or they just load a static preview that I then have to click to actually play. Does anyone know of an RSS app that can load GIFs/videos automatically?

You can’t argue with some of these anti-corporation people. I dislike greedy CEOs and shareholders as much as the next guy but a company hosting and streaming videos need some sort of revenue to keep those servers running.
- Comment on Smartphone manufacturers still want to make foldables a thing 10 months ago:
They definitely will be, question is how long it’ll take
- Comment on Smartphone manufacturers still want to make foldables a thing 10 months ago:
I’ve never tried a folding phone but to me it seems like a jack of all trades, master of none. The 4:3 aspect ratio, black bars on basically all videos, and easily damaged screen seem like big negatives.
I’d be interested to see if I’m wrong if I ever get a chance to use one.
- Comment on Nuclear energy is more expensive than renewables, CSIRO report finds 10 months ago:
Hydo is limited in where it can be used and where it can be used if often already is. Batteries can’t yet provide a grid level base load. I don’t know much about green hydrogen but there’s usually a loss of energy when converting from one medium to another.
- Comment on Nuclear energy is more expensive than renewables, CSIRO report finds 10 months ago:
Yeah, I don’t disagree but it’s a proven technology that can provide a baseline load for the grid. Something we can’t yet do reliably with renewables
- Comment on Nuclear energy is more expensive than renewables, CSIRO report finds 10 months ago:
Energy generation that works most of the time is more expensive than energy generation that only works some of the time, big surprise. Mason problem is that we need energy all the time and currently can’t store it on a grid level.
- Comment on Pluralistic: "If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing" 11 months ago:
It just magically appears /s Its disingenuous to try and justify piracy on the basis that the performers have already been paid. I don’t agree with studios either of course, customers are being scammed

It had me intrigued at first but it didn’t really lead anywhere. Overrated game with pretty dated graphics imho

You’re getting unfairly downvoted. I agree with the negative sentiment around Google but the only semi-alternative is nebula but they obviously don’t have the same amount of content. It’s not reasonable to expect YouTube to operate for free

Why so angry? It’s a great game in VR so why shouldn’t people recommend it. If it’s not your cup of tea that’s fine, don’t buy a VR headset
