I tried it when it first launched, perhaps its just me getting older but the portal mechanic was just tedious. Learning maps is already hard enough without enemies being able to teleport around.

What I wouldn’t give for a sequel to Empire at War
- Comment on Fun/interesting things to self host? 5 weeks ago:
Ah ok, I was mostly talking about hosting Foundry itself but that sounds promising if it’s relatively easy. I have some stuff set up but I’m very inexperienced when it comes to hosting etc
- Comment on Fun/interesting things to self host? 5 weeks ago:
How difficult is it to set up FoundryVTT? I heard they changed some things recently but I’m very out of the loop

I don’t disagree with you about AGI but the timeframe is the big question. Will it come in a decade or a century? Impossible to know.
It seems the current predictive machine learning is reaching it’s breaking point and improvements are slowing down. Is that because the limit is reached or just a temporary slowdown until something better is discovered. Also impossible to know
I have no doubts that AGI will eventually arrive unless we blow ourselves up

I assume they meant opinions when it comes to investing not opinions in general.

As someone who has a 4k monitor, 1440p is a great middle ground for gaming
- Comment on Study Claims 4K/8K TVs Aren't Much Better Than HD To Your Eyes 2 months ago:
I agree to a certain extent but there are diminishing returns, same with refreshrates. The leap from 1080 to 4k is big. I don’t know how noticeable upgrading from 4k to 8k would be for the average TV setup.
For vr it would be awesome though

And why should we care about your opinion?
You’re like the idiots complaining about NASAs budget and that it should be spent on something else.

Yeah, when w10 dies this is probably what I’ll end up doing too. I want to ditch windows but a lot of the programs I use don’t have Linux support

It’s not a zero sum game. I’d rather keep space research going to lower the risk as fast as we can. If you want to focus on the climate then we should end fast fashion which is much much worse for the environment. Also, space colonies are a chicken and egg problem, you cant just wait until the tech magically appears, you have to spend money inventing it. [Insert famous JFK quote about going to the moon here]

Where am I shifting the goalposts exactly?
“because being used in war is a reason why it is a bad ISP”, like I said before, I very much doubt the Ukrainians would agree with your take on this.
“if a war breaks out and a power can destroy them, we’re talking global breakdown of internet via starlink” ?? Do you think anyone is advocating we should replace all internet connections with Starlink?
“Then there’s also the piss poor service, the poor number of total connections, the lack of redundancy, the cost,” Should I copy-paste about Ukraine again?
“ecological damage” negligent amount compared to actually wasteful industries
