Pretty much yeah, there is a reason why Madden and FIFA (formerly) were top sellers every year with extremely minimal changes. It’s a safe game that sold like crazy. Same with Call of Duty. If we want something fresh, indie games for the most part try not to fall into the saturated market and stand out above their peers
- Comment on Modern Warfare 3 disappointment has COD players hankering for the grand old days of Infinite Warfare 1 year ago:
Last one I played a lot was I think Black ops 4, bought Cold War and was disappointed, especially since I needed an Xbox live subscription to even play single player
But last one I enjoyed was probably Black ops 2

Isn’t that the ones with the mech suits? I hated the loot box guns so much. Couldn’t compete with those

That’s actually kinda neat, especially given how popular GoPro footage was at the time and like, stunts in general

Iirc it was only used for uploading screenshots and videos captured on the consoles
- Comment on Worst fear confirmed: You can't launch Modern Warfare 3 without first launching Modern Warfare 2 1 year ago:
Last I played was Cold War on Xbox, couldn’t even get past “press start to continue” without Xbox Live Gold, the only way I could play single player or zombies was to eithe unplug the Ethernet, or disable the network for the Xbox entirely. Just to start the game.

Wouldn’t they use allegedly in the same way that news orgs use it? It’s lack of accountability if they get sued

Also not gatekeeping modes and content I already paid for if I can’t afford the newest expansion, and just straight up removing content that was paid for

Minecraft has always got to be #1 for me, most people have played it and there is a near limitless things to do, it really is a true sandbox.
I’m torn on #2 because both games or so dear to me, but it’s a split between Kingdom Hearts 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3. I’d probably give it to KH2 just because you can also do so much to make the game either harder or more enjoyable, and Disney just adds that extra oomph to make it charming
As for 3, I’m not really sure. There are so many games I’ve had really fond memories of, between sleepovers with my neighbor and staying up all night playing Timesplitters Future Perfect on the GameCube, to Black ops 2 and all the fun I had with my online friends. As unsatisfying as it is, I think I’d have to leave 3 open
- Comment on Is Destiny 2 Still Worth Playing in 2023? - IGN 1 year ago:
Yeah it’s really weirdly paced for a new player. When I started playing, they threw me directly into a late story mission and I had no idea who people were or what was going on. To no one’s surprise, I experienced story events out of order and was spoiled by the game itself

I’m so glad I can buy the games separately. I’m really only wanting to play MGS3 but already own 1 and 2 on GOG

I did enjoy kbin more, but most the apps are for Lemmy specifically, so I moved specifically to use those on mobile

- Comment on How has your Lemmy experience changed over the past few months? 1 year ago:
It’s been alright. I’m still having issue with the communities I want to follow, specifically certain games or franchises, either not having enough people posting or communities just not existing.
I still stand by my decision to not use Reddit unless I absolutely have to for troubleshooting issues, but Lemmy and Kbin are lonely platforms still and that hasn’t changed since I’ve joined

Fr, you can optimize really well when you know exactly what hardware someone will be running.
- Comment on What does Bluesky have that Mastodon doesn't? 1 year ago:
It was, yeah. Same with Lemmy for the most part too. I can just search profiles and hit follow like Twitter (derogatory) now
- Comment on What does Bluesky have that Mastodon doesn't? 1 year ago:
This isn’t really Bluesky specific, but the artists I follow are by in large, on Bluesky and not Mastodon, and that’s pretty much the only reason I want to use it
- Comment on I just developed and deployed the first real-time protection for lemmy against CSAM! 1 year ago:
Best guess would be using the database that sites like tumblr and twitter use to automatically identify known CSAM. I’m not sure how it works, I just know that sites use a database to quickly shut down any uploads

It’s so annoying when I just want to share a gif from tumblr to telegram. Pasting the link doesn’t show the gif, saving the gif doesn’t show the gif, it’s a horrible format

- Comment on Do you find the description Live Service Game off-putting? 1 year ago:
I don’t mind if they need to patch the game after launch to fix issues. you can only find so much with a QA team, the mass market is really helpful for finding issues you’d never be able to find as a team of 20 or 50 if they’re being generous.
I do absolutely despise live-service games with no choice for offline play. Diablo 4 is a more recent, prime example of this. servers went offline for a day or two IIRC, no one could play the game they payed money for, at a premium price at that. the biggest issue is that it puts a life-span on your games and I don’t think any media should have that.
