- Comment on Study shows Tesla owners have most car accidents, but Ram has the worst drivers 10 months ago:
I own a tesla. My comment is not a dig on the car, but a possible explanation for the increased accident rate.
- Comment on Study shows Tesla owners have most car accidents, but Ram has the worst drivers 11 months ago:
Another thing about Teslas is that even a slight fender bender that does no damage to an older car will cause damage. The bumpers are full of sensors, all pastic, and repairs are expensive.
I wonder if more minor accidents are reported in Teslas causing the numbers to be higher?

I’m sure it played a part
- Comment on is there a way to block posts via keyword? 1 year ago:
Inuse Sync and if you had put Musk or Twitter in the headline I’d never have seen this.
What sucks is that I can block “x” because too many other headlines have X in the word and the filter strips leading and trailing spaces from the keyword.

Honest question. I feel like I’ve seen this same story 5 times already… is it being reposted a lot?
- Comment on Why are wrong numbers so common in the US? 1 year ago:
My phone number is the same as the tech support number for a crappy dashcam company - except the last two digits are transposed.
I get a few calls and texts each month for them.
When I’m in a good mood I copy and paste a helpful response telling them the issue. When I’m annoyed, I just block the person.

“Its too hard to maintain.”
“What if someone hits the pole holding up the panels?”
“It costs more than clear cutting a forest to put the panels in.” (True story)
Lots of bullshit reason.
- Comment on Reddit’s new Contributor Program will let you cash out gold given to your posts by other users in real money. 1 year ago:
I’m not rehashing this again, but there were many ways to tweak things, such as serving ads to the apps through the api, to charging a small reasonable fee to 3rd party app users. Instead they killed off the other apps.

Darn, a Musk article got through my anti Twitter, anti Musk Sync for Lemmy filter. Time to ass Neuralink to it.
Ifs been glorious weeks since I saw Musk on Lemmy.
- Comment on Australia abandons effort to eradicate varroa mite after 14,000 bee hives destroyed 1 year ago:
Varroa has never been eradicated once it shows up, ever, anywhere. Once it was found in Australia, it was already so established that it was not possible to get rid of it. Thats because by the time it’s detected, it’s already been spreading for a while.

Good to know that when my kids were somehow losing a single shoe, they were just keeping up a millenias old tradition.
- Comment on SpaceX projected 20 million Starlink users by 2022—it ended up with 1 million 1 year ago:
My internet where I live is through cable and it’s terrible. Bad. Outtages all of the time. Down for days at times. So I switched to starlink. It’s fine. Works great EXCEPT WHEN IT RAINS HEAVILY.
Heavy rain blocks the signal. Elon Musk owns it.
Now, I have a t-mobile hotspot. It’s only $50 per month as opposed to the $110 for Starlink.
If you have no other decent option, Starlink is amazing. If you have other options, don’t give Musk your money.

6 babies died in two years, and she was on duty for all of them. Since she stopped caring for patience, there has been 1 death in 7 years.
Normally, there is one death every two years.

- Comment on Crooked House: Meeting over future of 'wonkiest' pub site 1 year ago:
Mounds of dirt preventing fire fighting access? Bulldozing of the entire site when only partial as needed demolition was granted. Suspicious fire.
The new owners didn’t want that pub there.

- Comment on Land acquisition question - Two Car Garage 1 year ago:
Its going to rust and if you don’t keep it painted, it’s going to rust even worse. If you insulate the inside, you won’t be able to treat the rust on the inside because it will be hidden.
I’d not insulate inside.
- Comment on Land acquisition question - Two Car Garage 1 year ago:
Not everything needs to be an investment. It is ok to enjoy your property and do what you want with your house.
If you can afford the costs and the future expenses are within your budget, then go for it.
Metal garages require more upkeep and need to be properly insulated to be more than a shelter. Insulating them makes the interior upkeep harder. It’s a tradeoff.
