- Comment on American wanting to move abroad, what's the best bet for an registered nurse? 6 months ago:
Socially it is moving pretty fast to the right in many places. They still have trains and healthcare. For now. Most US cities are as left leaning as Europe is.
- Comment on Biden really, really doesn’t want China to flood the US with cheap EVs 6 months ago:
Make them in Mexico. Less reliance on one country is better for everyone.

What the how is Qualcomm competing with Samsung?
Apple uses Samsung hardware, btw.

This device has a notch?
Also when did Samsung attack apple for using M1/M2/M3?

Weird when people throw worlds around that like for fun.
- Comment on Mozilla CEO Mitchelle Baker stepping down to Executive Chairwoman 9 months ago:
If you want services and products to compete with private offerings you need talented and competent people who could otherwise work in a for profit business and get a typical salary for that position.
Unfortunately 340k is basically upper middle class household in coastal cities. Mozilla HQ is in Mountain View, the heart of Silicon Valley.
Try buying even a fixer upper is the South Bay and raising two kids on less 300k in Silicon Valley. I’m making close to 200k in the Bay Area and feel like I have no money for extras like home improvements, no kids, 20 year old car, travel on a tight budget once a year for a week or so, and still behind on my retirement goals.

It’s time for Pedestrian crash avoidance mitigation (PCAM) to be enforced as standard feature. Much better solution. Large vehicles wills will need to exist, even though I agree fewer of them should.

So a Toyota rav4 hybrid (3,800 pounds) would be treated like a sprinter van. This is just feel good bullshit.

This is true.
But this screenshot is old if even real. I googled it and the snippet was much more realistic and detailed.
- Comment on Apple wants AI to run directly on its hardware instead of in the cloud 10 months ago:
Apple is it making or engineering silicon.
- Comment on Why is this so hard 10 months ago:
It’s like complaining about a phone charger being left in the socket when the windows are open with the AC on.
Those produce bags weigh like 1/4 of a gram. Those produce reusable bags weigh like 30 grams. Most people lose or break, or toss the reusable produce bags before using them 120 times. It’s feel good bullshit for high consuming Whole Foods shoppers. And it’s a distraction.
To be clear, I’m all for reusable grocery bags, and generally against single use items. But the produce bags are so thin and light, they’re probably the least problematic.
- Comment on China Tries To Censor Data About Nearly 1 Billion People in Poverty 10 months ago:
Either way I find it funny that the same anti westerners who say China is fair to its workers, are the same ones who always mention that my phone is made by slaves. Sometimes in the same discussion.
- Comment on Apple wants AI to run directly on its hardware instead of in the cloud 10 months ago:
By making their own, you mean telling Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company “hey we are going to buy enough of these units that you have to give us the specs we chose at a better price than the competitors, and since we chose the specs off your manufacturing capacity sheets we will say “engineered in Cupertino TM” “
Btw I’m not shitting on Apple here. I love my m2 processor.

Where would he go? Even countries without extradition treaties can still extradite. There’s no hiding. His options were grim either way.

Yeah that money came from Iraqi oil sales. And seems to have likely gone to (mostly) Iraqi contractors and Iraq government. It was literally their money going back to them. The accounting was not well documented. But once again, the money isn’t missing. And it definitely wasn’t money collected by the IRS from taxpayers.

Wild pigs don’t exist though. They’re invasive feral pigs. And eating them is the right thing to do after killing them. And they need to be killed for ecological reasons.

Is being able to die the only variable? Seems like a comparison of only the extreme.
Having a few glasses of wine a week with food is fine. Smoking a joint from time to time is fine.
Being dependent on any psychoactive is harmful to one’s mental health regardless.
- Comment on Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 11 months ago:
I am guessing they’ll wait until after new consoles are released. Let people buy ps5/xXxboxXxSeriesNexXxt remastered. Then let people buy the pc version. Get 3 copies sold to each of most hardcore gamers.
Wonder how much effort they will put into preventing mods this time. I know they bought 5M so it seem they will want to shut all the unauthorized mod communities down.

Simple sugars are carbs with one (monosaccharide) or two (disaccharide) sugar molecules. They literallly are sugars. If you are attempting to assert that all non complex carbohydrates are sugars, you are wrong. A potato or a serving of pasta is not at all like a candy bar. Bros science diets might be bad for your brain, btw.
- Comment on Amazon exec says it’s time for workers to ‘disagree and commit’ to office return — “I don’t have data to back it up, but I know it’s better.” 11 months ago:
I’m about as pro wfh as it gets. It’s been one of the best life improvements I’ve had for me and I absolutely feel like it’s made me more productive for the people I work for.
That said, any statistic that begins with “workers say…” isn’t going to matter to the skeptics or c suite types. And a lot of those stats cited what workers say.

Are we going to pretend inflation isn’t also being driven by people acting cavalier? Because non essential spending is still way up last time I checked. People don’t seem to be objecting to the prices at all where it counts.
