My GOAT Moon Jae In could never. Only Korean president to never: be overthrown in a military coup, assassinated, thrown in prison, executed, investigated for corruption, or commit suicide.

Part of the Tiktok algo is already released on Github. I’m hoping instead of selling they actually make everything open.

This is from my former coworker who’s father was approached as an investor for Bytedance, so grain of salt.
But apparently the current CEO of Bytedance, Shou Zi Chew, interned at Meta and offered Zuckerberg a chance to invest into Bytedance in 2013 when he was gathering investors (assuming they’d be the American arm of the multinational). Zuck refused, saying that he didn’t think short form video is going to go anywhere, and basically laughed Zi Chew out of the room.
Fast forward to 2024, and Meta is spending the most money lobbying to get Tiktok to sell to a US company, with Meta trying to argue that they have the best infrastructure to “manage the technology” and data from Tiktok, Capcut, Lemon8, etc.
If all of this is true, I would also say “Fuck You” to Mark Cuckerberg and shut down the servers too. I mean, why the hell else am I on Lemmy if not for a CEO saying I can’t have my app?

I should have guessed you’d be a gaming connoisseur and already had played AW1 just based on your daily posts (which I enjoy daily too btw).
But playing Alan Wake 1+DLCs more than twice? Damn, you’re not a lake, you’re an ocean 😭

IMO, assomeone who played Alan Wake 1 back to back with Alan Wake 2…don’t do it, AW2 as a game feels sooooo much better in every aspect. Unless your tolerance for jank is really high, the difference in the gunplay alone feels like you’re using two different skillsets.
Well…AW2 didn’t completely get rid of the jank, just made it a smoother part of the gameplay lol.
Also the story of 2 is really heavily related to the ending of AW1, you might just spoil yourself for a big part of the mystery.
- Comment on Final Fantasy 9 Remake May Not Happen as a Single Title 3 months ago:
I don’t mind the expanding in Remake as much as Rebirth tbh. Remake’s does expand a lot of side character’s, but they feel relevant to the story. Marlene, Avalanche trio, hell Yuffie’s little side story, they’re all good additions.
But Rebirth is where I think it went off the rails a bit. The game really feels unfocused with a lot of the side quests, and it really drags a bit until you get to the last quarter of the game.
Maybe it’ll feel better to revisit once we have the entire trilogy. But man, paying $70/ to play Rebirth feels a bit bad when it came out at the same time as the new Yakuza and Persona remake priced at the same point.
- Comment on Final Fantasy 9 Remake May Not Happen as a Single Title 3 months ago:
I’m usually with you on the “skip the quests you don’t like”, but it really doesn’t feel like an option for this series. Each of the remake games are priced at $70USD and it’s not even a full story, technically speaking.
It feels really bad to not do side content, because it feels like you’re not getting your “money’s worth” psychologically. But the side content varies so much in quality depending on the chapter that the game just feels like a drag. It especially sucks because the OG FF7 is such a well paced story IMO, with a good balance of action/plot vs silly downtime.

Jumping rope about to be a whole chapter LET’S GOOOOOO
- Comment on Final Fantasy 9 Remake May Not Happen as a Single Title 3 months ago:
And it honestly breaks the flow of the story sometimes compared to the original. Rebirth’s added content felt like busywork at times to make it seem like a bigger game than it actually is.
The Honeybee sequence is peak tho, and I’ll fight anyone that says otherwise.

As it stands now, why would I pay with my money AND my data? Google shouldn’t get to double dip.

- Comment on how is final fantasy XVI 4 months ago:
That’s fine, you can disagree. But as someone who 100% the game (and somehow kept my sanity), I really do think anything that is outside of the Clive/Joshua/Rosfiels story is pretty weak, and that is like…35% of the game total.
I don’t want to get into spoilers, but I think all the Eikons outside of Dion are severely underutilized, and could have been much more impactful in the story. The whole Ultima payoff is also really not very well thought out with how it’s explained. That’s why I genuinely think the writers were segmented into different teams and were not communicating with each other.
The Rosfield-centred plot is genuinely great though, I really wish they had stuck mainly to that.
- Comment on how is final fantasy XVI 4 months ago:
This is just my opinion, please if anyone reading this loves FFXVI don’t take it personally!
IMO: The story is ass, the visuals are spectacular (especially the Eikon fights), the soundtrack is amazing, and the gameplay is a weird combo of FFXIV and DMC5. If you’re not opposed to some game spoilers, I would really recommend watching a stream of the beginning of the game just to see what you’re getting into.
If you’ve played other mainline Final Fantasy, it’s very different gameplay-wise. Your party is AI controlled, and you only control the main character of the section (usually Clive). This really turned me off from the game tbh. The mainline story can really drag too, and the sidequests vary in quality so much I genuinely wondered if they had several different teams working on them and not communicating. The only ones I really liked were the hunts, because I think that’s the only time you as a player actually have to think about your moveset and how to tackle a boss.
If you can get it on sale, and you’re willing to sit through like…15h of intro to actually get to the main parts of the game, go for it. If you want something a bit shorter, but shows what modern Final Fantasy games seem to going towards, maybe try Final Fantasy 7 Remake. If you want a cleaner version of Clive’s gameplay, I recommend the Devil May Cry series, especially 5.
