- Comment on Tesla, Warner Bros sued for using AI ripoff of iconic Blade Runner imagery, despite the producers having previously rejected any association between their iconic sci-fi movie and Musk or his companies 3 weeks ago:
I don’t think making art in the style of a copyrighted piece of work is wrong. Like writing a fanfic in an existing world (Harry Potter, LOTR, Blade Runner, etc.) isn’t copyright infringement, it’s covered by fair use. I think Alcon are suing the wrong person. A better case for copyright infringement is the AI company who trained their AI using copyrighted material that they almost certainly did not have permission to use.
- Comment on Tesla, Warner Bros sued for using AI ripoff of iconic Blade Runner imagery, despite the producers having previously rejected any association between their iconic sci-fi movie and Musk or his companies 3 weeks ago:
I think what they’re trying to say is that if asking AI to make something in the style of Blade Runner is copyright infringement, that opens the door to asking an artist to make something in the style of Blade Runner being copyright infringement. I don’t know how I personally feel about that, but it’s at least how I interpreted the comment.

They lost me when they refused to do anything about Kiwi Farms. Protecting privacy is one thing, facilitating hate crimes is another.

AI as a technology is fascinating and can be extremely useful, especially in places like the medical field. AI as a product in its current state is nothing more than dystopian plagiarism.

Looking through an archeological lens, sheep bone games and cult practices probably look the same. Imagine thousands of years from now, they’ll probably see like football fans as a cult.

They’re getting smart to that and are starting to hard code server IPs, circumventing any DNS you have in place.

- Comment on As He Realized His Mistake, Elon Musk Begged Twitter Staff to Turn Off the New Feature He'd Pushed For 2 months ago:
It’s because when banks make loans, they sell of the debt, but nobody has wanted to buy the debt for Musk’s loans. My understanding of this is essentially, if someone takes out a loan of $100 million, the bank will sell that debt to an investor for $101 million, and the investor will make back $102 million once the loan is paid off due to interest. But no investors are confident enough that Musk will pay back his loan so no one is ponying up the dough to buy it.
- Comment on Why does the USA have so few legal protections for ordinary people, and how can we change that? 2 months ago:
Isn’t that ideally what the government is supposed to be? We can’t all individually fight for ourselves, so we vote for people to represent us and work to protect our interests. That is, if politicians actual represented their constituents and not the highest bidder.

I’ve started just booting them from USB. I have Home Assistant running on a pi with an ssd in an external enclosure and it’s been completely issue free.
- Comment on SanDisk introduces the first 8TB SD and 4TB microSD cards - Liliputing 2 months ago:
The raspberry pi is about the worst case scenario for SD cards. It may be idle, but an operating system is still making constant reads and writes, which absolutely eat through an SD card
- Comment on 8 Minutes 3 months ago:
I think that’s just the wording. My interpretation of that is any satellite or space probe sending back readings to Earth wouldn’t be faster than the sun visually disappearing from the sky. Even with the information being transmitted at the speed of light, there’s always going to be some sort of processing delay, along with the limited bandwidth of the transmission.
- Comment on [Question] Can You Uncut A STL? 3 months ago:
I believe you can export as an STL from Orca Slicer, though I haven’t done it myself. You’d basically merge the STLs in Orca, export, and then open the exported STL in the slicer of your choice.

They’re behind just about every negative stigma surrounding autism. Mainly that it’s a debilitating disease that ruins the lives of everyone around them and needs to be cured, as well as that autism is caused by vaccines.
- Comment on obesity 3 months ago:
The reason is bigotry. If you really want to get into it, a big reason for the stigma against autism is the damage done by Autism Speaks.
