That's really cool! I'm not sure where this fits in on the renewable spectrum (i could have missed it) but I haven't heard about this. Thanks for sharing!
- Comment on Nevada put big battery energy storage where a coal plant used to be 6 months ago:
Maybe? I've also read about using water storage. I really don't know much about using gravity.
- Comment on Nevada put big battery energy storage where a coal plant used to be 6 months ago:
The Company's comprehensive offerings include proprietary gravity-based storage, battery storage, and green hydrogen energy storage technologies.
It looks like they used lithium ion batteries for this but I'm not confident in that. I only poked around their website a little, tho. I'm curious what gravity based would look like. Maybe I should poke around more!
- Comment on Door hinge pin keeps coming up. How to solve? 6 months ago:
I'm not a carpenter, but as a mechanic, if the hinge pin is doing that AND the deadbolt has a problem, I would expect a third problem. Maybe the door frame isn't square, or since it is the bottom hinge pin, maybe a threshold issue. The pin shouldn't be migrating, and if it did, the deadbolt shouldn't care. There should be three hinges on an entry door. Is the door warped?

Ooh some good new people to look in to, thanks! Never heard if Yalom, only know Banksy for art.
- Comment on Lemmy instances die twice 6 months ago:
I have to wonder about the instance I am on regarding this.
But also, is that quote from Coco? I've watched that with my niece a lot but never all the way thru. Seems like something that would have been said in the underworld or whatever.

Oh this is nice to hear, I had to switch to Arcpro at work and I don't like it. I have been putting off checking the qgis I have on my personal computer so I'll have to see what's up.

- Comment on Which is less religious: Xmas or Christmas? 10 months ago:
I would argue that in some ways, coopting these words and the nonreligious traditions would be excellent because it removes power from "them."
- Comment on Which is less religious: Xmas or Christmas? 10 months ago:
For every religious holiday, there is an equal and opposite secular holiday.

Can you inquire with your local leadership about encroaching into the roadway? It really does seem like this would be your best option. Or reconstruction.
- Comment on King Charles III must have felt really awkward when he watched the Lion King and heard the "I just can't wait to be king" song. 10 months ago:
I always thought he was basically living it up, happy to still be a Prince. I assumed fewer responsibilities, but perhaps the pay was terrible haha.
- Comment on Google maps adding sponsored detours 10 months ago:
Does organic maps work without downloading maps? I don't really need nav, but sometimes I need to know how to get somewhere. I can't do that with Osmand.

specify what device
I guess that would help haha. I'm a little confused on it. I bought it new in box from a carrier as a Motorola Moto X. It's a first gen. The phone says it is a Moto X in the info part of settings. However, when connected to a computer, it says XT1039, which seems to be a Moto G.
I plan to start with first gen Moto X.
It could be someone’s barely working proof of concept
This may be fine, the phone is old enough it no longer connects to networks (US CDMA phone...). I am primarily looking to use this as a learning experience before getting real with my current phone. I guess it will be my own proof of concept 🤔
Good luck, compiling Android is a major pain in the ass.
Ya, that is what it seems. I was trying to avoid that for my first time but maybe this won't be the phone to do it with. I'll look at XDA forums.
That is for the help 🙂

Yes, in my experience a sooty window comes from incomplete burn. That soot is flammable! Burn it off.

Gosh this seems so relevant to the Wikipedia highway discussion. Maybe there cannot be flexibility in their rules when they are facing this type of threat.

- Comment on English is weird 11 months ago:
To add to this, "have got" is perfect tense. "You're a man" is different because "are" isn't an auxiliary verb here, it is just added to "you" as a contraction. That phrase would probably be an existential clause.
I miss World Wide Words!

What about automotive chrome cleaner? Some of those products are supposed to break down stuff that has been baked on at exhaust temps, far above any oven or stove surface.
