Do you really want to chat about that with the distilled essence of a million redditors?

Yo homie that’s my great-great-great-…-grandpa that you’re talking about
- Comment on Lemmy.ml is acting as a proxy instance for Hexbear and should be defederated by any instances that defederate from Hexbear 8 months ago:
This is less about the instance as a whole. The !worldnews@lemmy.ml mods are just notoriously terrible. It’s best to just avoid the community altogether.
- Comment on What are y'all buying on the steam sale? 8 months ago:
I bought Project: Snowblind and E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy for a total of 3 Euros. I’ve been replaying the entire Deus Ex Series over the last couple of months and these two games are kinda similar in nature and I’ve been wanting to play them for ages.
- Comment on Reddit wants to raise $748M with IPO, sets value at $6.4B 8 months ago:
For the same reasons that fast food is popular. It’s basically dumbed down mindless consumption. I used to be on reddit because I could talk to like-minded people about interesting topics, but the vast majority of people on the internet just want to be entertained and with the support of the admins, they ended up taking over the site. Sure, there are some niche communities where you can have valuable discussions but their time is limited. It’s essentially an artificially accelerated Eternal September.

The only sad thing about this is that only one of them can lose the lawsuit.
- Comment on Reddit sells training data to unnamed AI company ahead of IPO 8 months ago:
Yup, shreddit has the ability to use the csv from the data request. Took me about 24 hours to edit and erase the 20.000+ comments I made over the last 10 years.
- Comment on Reddit sells training data to unnamed AI company ahead of IPO 8 months ago:
It’s been happening for the better part of a decade though. And started probably much earlier than that, just not as blatant.
- Comment on For those thinking of going back to reddit. Gaze upon this comment section and reconsider. 8 months ago:
My only regret is that I can only upboat this once, good Sir.
- Comment on Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has replaced the Hide Desktop icon with Copilot. 8 months ago:
The difference is that Linux generally adopts new technology because it enhances the user experience in some way, and not because it maximizes ad revenue and telemetry.

Damn. I knew it was bad but seeing this it’s more like “catastrophic”:
- Comment on Another Patient Recommendation: Saints Row IV 9 months ago:
Saints Row 4 is the most fun I’ve had with a SR game. 2 and 3 were great in their own right, but 4 just nailed it. The movement and gameplay loop alone are fun enough to waste some very enjoyable hours.
- Comment on What game fits this? 9 months ago:
Can confirm. I have been playing since the beta and I hate it, yet I keep coming back…

Believe it or not, right to jail.

Their faces are so similar, it’s honestly kinda uncanny.

- Comment on Geoff Keighley: I do agree that the music was played too fast for award winners this year [...] it’s something to address going forward. 11 months ago:
The music was generally all over the place IMO. I hated how they played that cheesy violin theme whenever they caught a whiff of someone being even slightly emotional and followed it up with their upbeat main theme right after. It’s definitely something they should work out before next year. I don’t remember it being this bad in the past.
- Comment on Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch in the early 2024 11 months ago:
I would be pretty surprised if they actually managed to hit a solid 30 fps on lowest PC settings. It’ll have to be a separate potato-mode to get it running. The game is absolutely beautiful but it’s also horribly optimized. Even my 3060 dipped to ~15 frames at times with a lot of action on the screen. And that was on medium to high settings.
- Comment on Thomas 🔭✨ (@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io) 23andMe just sent out an email trying to trick customers into accepting a TOS change that will prevent you from suing them after they literally lost your genome 11 months ago:
“They lost my genome” is certainly a 2023 phrase.
- Comment on Asking ChatGPT to Repeat Words ‘Forever’ Is Now a Terms of Service Violation 11 months ago:
I just tried it by asking it to recite a fictional poem that only consists of one word and after a bit of back and forth it ended up generating repeating words infinitely. It didn’t seem to put out any training data though.

- Comment on What moment from a video game made you cry? 11 months ago:
Mafia 1. “Mr. Salieri sends his regards”. Need I say more?
- Comment on What were your top favorite video games as a kid? 11 months ago:
Pretty sure my first major video game was Colin McRae Rally 2.0 and it started my fascination for cars.
My favorite game from my childhood would probably be Mafia 1 though, I still replay it like once a year. Halo CE is a close second.

I’ve got a T440p and I just set it up through the menu in the KDE settings, it worked right out of the box.

- Comment on Lemmy Mods: How do you keep track of the reports you receive? 11 months ago:
I mostly use the desktop interface, so I’ll see if there are any reports in the upper right corner.

You can get an electric Benz way under 100k, probably half that. 100k is S-class pricing and it has always been this high.
