there’s plenty of reason to hate it but, to be absolutely clear, paid reddit posts are rarely conspiracy. that is a very popular method on reddit specifically. that isn’t to say that “marathon devs definitely paid people to post on reddit” etc. just to say, it’s a little difficult to immediately dismiss that as a concept when it’s so fucking common on reddit.

well that certainly doesn’t fit with my snarky little quip now does it… /s
i suppose it’ll be up to execution, if done well i think that would make for an interesting experience. it’s amazing how quickly we’ve reached such AI fatigue, i love to see it

ppl in tech jump into the arms of fascism and then, only afterwards do they go “that was a bad idea??? i got harmed personally???” followed up immediately with “surely the next steve jobs won’t steer me wrong tho”

there isn’t nearly enough of a strong reaction against this, and i can’t say i don’t understand why. techbros thrive on influencers justifying enshittification to it’s users so why wouldn’t that trickle down to open source communities built specifically to spite those same tech bros? i guess i just expected these kinds of people to have more integrity, and be able to tell when a fox is in sheeps clothing. but tech is pretty much nothing if not jumping into the arms of fascism first.

the downvotes… i just miss how much fun the Forza Horizon series used to be, it’s not like there aren’t reasons to dislike it. gamers are fucking weird

either someone using the worst possible excuse they could think of bc they care that little, or a monumental waste of energy and human effort because why in gods name would you make something look sloppy and soulless on purpose

at this point, human beings in the games industry that aren’t VC or executives are fully devalued. i think that’s as good of a sign as ever to ditch AAA altogether and put your talents to much greater use with indie studios.

- Comment on Developers Were Left in the Dark About DLSS 5 1 week ago:
no corporation under capitalism, especially a multibillion dollar one like CAPCOM, is “Anti-AI.” GenAI is a get out of jail free card for doing what the games industry has done for years now, pushing more bloated, buggier, and blurrier games while charging more for it. it’s also great for devaluing human labour. even if it can’t replace it, doesn’t matter, that’s not the point. you lay off thousands of people, “replace their jobs with AI” and then when that inevitably doesn’t work you hire humans again for worse benefits and pay. this is enshittification, and it’s the natural process of capitalism.

i still remember this game having AI Generated assets. that’s not exactly something i can look past. how ironic that the devs were taking an environmentalists angle for the first game, now we’re here

i mean there’s a lot to be said about using GenAI period, even more to be said about this specific usecase of it. but also, is that not the point of diets? if they aren’t strictly medical it’s just an eating disorder. people who starve themselves to be skinnier are also going “well i think you should at least try to be healthy.” u can demonise whatever trendy collection of molecules makes u fat this month all u want, spending so much energy on how much body fat you have isn’t healthy at all.

“AI is too dumb to take our jobs” as if that matters. that’s not even the point, the point of Generative AI is to mine data and devalue human labour. according to the like 120 people who run this world too many people are making too much money so now we have a dogshit “technology” made to cut your wages whenever it’s convenient.

if you’re going to stoop so low as to use fucking AI have the decency to show it so people with actual standards know to avoid it. but to be fair, a cat n mouse game of whether it was used or not would make me avoid it anyway

you know i might actually put effort into responding to you but “because they don’t have a choice who they are attracted to” shows how far gone you are. this entire comment is making me sick to my stomach. for the record, pedophilia is obviously a fucking choice and has nothing to do with attraction oh my gods. why does that even need saying
- Comment on MULTIVERSE has defederated fedinsfw.app for hosting child pornography 4 weeks ago:
these comments are fucking horrible jesus christ. i mean ik pedophilia is super popular among the demographic of ppl that would be using lemmy but seeing it out in the open like this is rlly gut wrenching. throwing around terms like “virtue signaling” when calling out fetishes that are clearly entertaining the idea of child pornography is some serious gooner brain shit. how disgusting.

Well what you’re bringing up now is a very nuanced discussion. nuanced and possibly even subjective. but my take, reeducation as a concept surely don’t remind me of anything ethical in real world history. it also still reminds me of a carceral system, just a differently short-sighted one. i can’t imagine a crime befitting of reeducation either, i mean let’s talk about bigotry for instance. how far do you go trying to avoid shunning a bigot before you’re just doing them the favour of giving them people to abuse? how would you teach a bigot out of bigotry, in this scenario they’re already living in a world without the systems that cultivate an environment of bigotry yet they persist. they’re beyond help as far as i’m concerned. and as i just mentioned, a lot of crime happens out of necessity because of being left behind by capitalism. i at least don’t think crimes againat humanity are worthy of mercy of any sort.
- Comment on Dbzero has Defederated from Feddit.org following its Governance post about the later's Zionist Bar Problem 5 weeks ago:
in a just, abolitionists society that doesn’t believe in the carceral system or death penalty so called “shunning” is a powerful thing. someone does something cruel that the community finds irredeemable? state the facts of what they did as publicly as possible so everyone knows and then shun them. let them either change their ways out of survival or parish while clinging to their bigotry and hatred. it’s the only solution that i’ve found.
- Comment on Saying that hardware price increase is good cause it forces the devs to optimize is not as good as it seems. 5 weeks ago:
the way games are going now is the way games have BEEN going. capitalism’s only purpose is infinite growth at any and all expense. this is what that looks like for gaming, bigger bigger bigger while bandaging it up with TAA and framegen and DLSS. when this house of cards tumbles, i know i will capitalise on it by not investing in the same mistakes again. but, i can only really hope that others do the same.
