I’ve never heard of Huntarr. What is this?
- Comment on 2 days ago:
Sometimes I wonder if the problem isn’t the content we cover, but the content people remember. Then again it could just be different districts.
- Comment on How to I prove to someone that the U.S. moon landing wasn't staged? 3 days ago:
Well do you have a bookshelf?
- Comment on How to I prove to someone that the U.S. moon landing wasn't staged? 3 days ago:
Yes, but it still applies because we’re talking about a conspiracy therist.
- Comment on How to I prove to someone that the U.S. moon landing wasn't staged? 3 days ago:
You believe in the concept of a moon?

Without the platypus who would stop the evil scientists?
- Comment on What do you think of this "change your profile photo to Clippy to protest anti-consumer practices" thing, and would you say that organizing and collective action would be a lot better and such? 1 week ago:
Changing your profile to clippy won’t do much outside of awareness. Louis rossmann says as much, the message is to change your profile picture and take action

I remember once, we got a whole week off school thanks to snow
- Comment on If the next pres. is a Democrat and wants to roll back all of Trumps bullshit. How can they do that quickly and efficiently? 2 weeks ago:
Isn’t one of the desenting opinions from the supreme court literally giving the president such sweeping immunities allows them to assassinate political enemies Scott free?
- Comment on Having grown up on sci-fi I always knew there would be people who reject robots and AI on a visceral level, I just thought it wouldn't be me. 3 weeks ago:
… That’s what they say I’m sci fi movies.
- Comment on If you are not in a tech field, what got you into self-hosting? 3 weeks ago:
What I’ve found works well is giving it a prompt to turn it into a tutor (along with giving it the information) if something doesn’t seem right, look into it without AI, I haven’t had it backfire on me yet. I can definitely respect someone avoiding ai entirely though.
- Comment on I have a rasberry pi 5 collecting dust, what are some neat useful things i can do with it? 3 weeks ago:
Pi hole if you don’t have one, others have mentioned home assist, you could also look at ubo pod, although that isn’t out yet. Really just use it to host whatever you want

Is it too late to add myself to the queue?
- Comment on I don't actually read the news. I surmise the news based on memes that begin popping up for which I have no context. 3 weeks ago:
Looks like that article is based on a single study from 2016. Not saying it’s not applicable, but these days the number could be much lower or (more likely) much higher. I’m also not sure the echo chamber effect is related to this, as you can just as easily say people will read what they already agree with (especially since it’s a time investment) and that leads to the same problem.
- Comment on Question: Is there a Self Hosted Discord like app? 4 weeks ago:
I was wondering why I want getting any updates, checked thegithub a few months ago and found out they rebranded. Haven’t had a chance to try the latest version out yet

- Comment on I sometimes worry that most of my posts from lemmy.dbzer0.com have been sorta doomeristic. Does anyone have any good Lemmy communities that would act as palate cleansers? 4 weeks ago:
Not what I was expecting when I clicked on it
- Comment on It would be a crazy marketing stunt for any of the privacy focused email service companies stated that Jeffery Epstein and others could have kept their secrets if they had used their service. 4 weeks ago:
Ya, the main reason I use alias’ at this point is because when an account gets compromised I can just change the email and password. Helps that I can also just disable emails that are only getting mailing lists too.
- Comment on Are there any reputable cybersecurity experts that I could just email them to ask for free advice? 5 weeks ago:
Use a password manager, unique passwords. this video is good for phishing training.

- Comment on If the color of the Sun was orange, wouldn't the clouds and everything white also be orange? My friend is adamant that 30 years ago the "real" Sun was orange but got replaced with a white LED. 1 month ago:
I’d assume trolling
- Comment on Hypothetically, if your were a kid and your parents worked for a government intelligence agency, how would you keep secrets / have privacy from your parents? 1 month ago:
Well, parents can already do that. I think the basic solution is still a VPN. Can’t read encripted traffic. Tor would be tempting to say, but a lot of nodes are owned by the government still would be better than nothing. Other than that, use strong passwords, set the browsers to delete cookies on close, use a password manager.

I’d assume it’s belief in him physically existing as a kid then translating to Saint Nicholas or spirit of christmas, but staying low to represent that it’s shifted.
