- Comment on With all this talk about Ai not being profitable why aren't we using it in video games? I dont mean replacing developers I mean in NPCs in the game. I make them more realistic. 8 hours ago:
one kid thought he was rich enough to buy a house. Trying to tell him he’s not and he thinks I took his money (and started crying, but also became friends?).
I don’t know about confused, have you ever talked to a toddler?

I see, it’s not a deal breaker for me but it makes sense if you transfer files very often.

Out of curiosity what do you find slow in SD cards? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a delay when taking photos/videos and watching a movie in HD directly from the SD card is also fine. It’s slower when moving stuff around but that’s not something that needs to happen immediately.
- Comment on iPhone guy wondering how you guys manage your gallery! 1 week ago:
I like android’s folder based management and always found the iPhone way too simplistic. I use fossify gallery with the folder view as default and some folders (Camera, Downloads, Screenshots) pinned at the top. Some pictures I move to other folders, some stay in their original folder. So there are only some folders I care about and the rest (including app folders) are just temporary locations and can be safely deleted at any moment. All the important folders are in the SD card which just gets moved to the new phone when it’s time to switch, keeping the exact same hierarchy.
One thing that’s missing is a way to add tags to images so you can group stuff across folders. There are apps and cloud services that provide this but it’d be nice to have something non-proprietary that works on the device itself through image metadata or similar.
Note: I’ve been doing this for a while and across phones and have something like 10000 images in my phone right now.
- Comment on Random idea: a federated alternative to Amazon Prime built from independent shops? 4 weeks ago:
We had this in Greece and it was great. Then you could order through the aggregator itself. Then it got its own delivery service that shops could use (still better than all other delivery companies). Then shops were added that don’t have their own site nor a physical shop. Now it’s trying to expand to other countries and there is a subscription that gives you lower delivery fees. It’s still good and most people buy stuff from there but it’s clear it’s trying to become Amazon and I’m afraid most similar centralized services will go this way sooner or later.
- Comment on Does life have less value to people in Latin America? 4 weeks ago:
This is entirely speculation but the fact that there are active wars in the continent might affect how the data is classified. I don’t know how the article you posted defines homicide. There are some rules here www.unodc.org/unodc/en/…/iccs.html and it seems that deaths during war conflicts might not be counted as intentional homicides. Latin America hasn’t had many wars but had/has many conflicts involving guerrillas, cartels and political groups. Is it possible that many of the resulting deaths are counted as homicides whereas similar violence in Africa is counted as, for example, civil war deaths?
- Comment on Countries/Cities without Walmart's/Giant super centers 1 month ago:
Apparently Walmart has a location list here corporate.walmart.com/about/location-facts. It says it operates in 19 countries so there are many places that do not have Walmarts. Many of them probably don’t have other big stores either.

…or cars. But even if it’s safer that doesn’t mean kids are allowed outside more.

I think most parents do not want their kids to go alone outside

Do you think most kids do not want to be outside? This law has nothing to do with protecting them.

I saw a comment recently that answered with “would a bot do this?” with a photo of a post-it note saying Not a bot :). Was kinda cute
- Comment on Who shops at small businesses? 1 month ago:
I shop from small businesses when it’s more convenient (which is actually more common than you’d think when you don’t have a car).
Mini markets are closer than supermarkets and stay open longer so I’ll often get groceries from there even if it’s more expensive.
When looking for a specific piece of equipment there are some things that can’t be delivered or they’d take an eternity to arrive so I find which stores sell it and go to the physical store, which is usually a smaller local place.
I don’t know if thrift shops count as small businesses but they’re also more convenient than going to big clothes shops.
And I guess most restaurants are local businesses too.
- Comment on How does "DNS" work on the dark web? 1 month ago:
From the link, since I think this is the part most equivalent to DNS.
The Onion Service assembles an Onion Service descriptor, containing a list of its introduction points (and “authentication keys”), and signs this descriptor with the Onion Service’s identity private key.
The Onion Service upload that signed descriptor to a distributed hash table, which is part of the Tor network, so that clients can also get it.

If you’re wearing jeans you can also strap it onto the belt straps. If it’s on the side it shouldn’t be too uncomfortable
