The problem with overeating, is once you need to stop yourself, it’s harder to - because you still need to eat. You still need to keep doing the thing that you’ve got a problem with.
Imagine if to “stop smoking”, you had to smoke 3x a day?
- Comment on Amazon is making it impossible to remove the DRM from Kindle Books 1 week ago:
The benefits to jailbreaking it are that you can change the layout of the device, remove store icons, and just in-general tidy up the UI a bit. I haven’t seen anything game-changing from the jailbreak; like adding apps or something.

It’s not a software problem, the Oasis has cell service.
- Comment on Amazon is making it impossible to remove the DRM from Kindle Books 1 week ago:
I’ve been slowly filling my wife’s Kindle Oasis full of pirated books over the last 2 years. I got it initially because it had internet service everywhere and I could just email her the epubs to simplify loading things.
A couple of weeks ago, even though airplane mode is always on for this thing, (so no wifi either) – this thing wipes something like 400 books from her library overnight. Granted, they were all pirated, but they’re doing some nasty stuff there. It looks like there’s renewed effort to combat this.
Sooooo, I sold it and bought her a Kobo Libra Color. Now, I just have her open up send.djazz.se – give me the 4 digit code, and I can upload books to her that way. Goodbye Amazon. Don’t let the door hit you.

There are absolutely a fuckstick worth of George Floyd memes out there like this too. I say let people have fun. There are like 8b people on this planet, and far more important people than him are dying, like the people in gaza.

- Comment on do you use non violent communication at the workplace? 1 week ago:
The problem with the term “non-violent communication”, is that we don’t preface things that we describe based on their lack of something.
You might as well call it “non-love communication”…get it?
We don’t call driving to work “non-violent driving”, we just call it driving.
We don’t call our jobs “non-slavery labor”. You’re practicing absurdity in order to proclaim some higher order of thinking, but you’re just being silly.
- Comment on do you use non violent communication at the workplace? 1 week ago:
Nobody is “dunking” on LGBT folks. The presented scenario is literally of a completely straight person invading those spaces.
- Comment on do you use non violent communication at the workplace? 1 week ago:
How is this bigoted? And who said I disagree with non-violent communication?
You might want to re-read what I wrote.
- Comment on do you use non violent communication at the workplace? 1 week ago:
It reminds me of people on LGBT forums going: “I’m a man, and I like women, but I don’t feel sexual attraction towards all of them, only the ones I feel a connection with; what are my labels?”…and needing to tell them “NORMAL! NORMAL IS YOUR LABEL!”.
Meanwhile everyone is like “Oh, you’re ace+/romantic”…/sigh…
- Comment on Why do some gamers invert their controls? Scientists now have answers, but they’re not what you think 1 week ago:
The difference is what you’re “pushing”. Are you pushing the scroll bar on the right of the page? Or are you pushing the page? I grew up with the scroll bar, so mouse wheel down makes page move up.
Nowadays, phones don’t even have room to display a scroll bar, so people have gotten the idea to flick upwards. If you’re on a laptop trackpad, that’s probably gonna carry over.
- Comment on Is this still on the ace spectrum or what? 2 weeks ago:
What you sound like is…
NORMAL
- Comment on I'm playing Gears of War Reloaded, and I have a question. Will there be some point when the Chainsaw I've had for hours actually gets explained to me? 4 weeks ago:
Games should allow you to discover their features, they shouldn’t be telling you directly. That’s the cool part of figuring out a new combo in Mortal Kombat, etc.
They don’t give you a clippy tooltip that says “Press Up Up Down B A Down Down to rip this bitches head off!” – You figure out the combos on your own, or with friends.
This idea of every little thing having to be presented DIRECTLY to the user is laziness. There are ways to help a user discover things narratively.

It’s so weird that players these days don’t press buttons and figure shit out on their own…do you really need a tutorial for a basic weapon?
- Comment on YSK that hand sewing is a stupid cheap hobby to get into and reduces your impact on the environment 4 weeks ago:
Just think through the logistics of how you would use a sewing machine to reinforce the knee of some pants or to reinforce/repair a well loved stuffy.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO6VezZSfus
Like this – Doing knee patches, or small stuffies isn’t difficult with a proper sewing machine. You just bunch up the material to get around it.
- Comment on YSK that hand sewing is a stupid cheap hobby to get into and reduces your impact on the environment 4 weeks ago:
Machine sewing isn’t that much more expensive, and it’s a VAST improvement over hand sewing unless you’ve got plenty of time, and lots of boredom.
- Comment on 3D printing sites should require a printed model when uploading a design. 4 weeks ago:
Many of them actually do. Report any model that doesn’t have a printed picture with it and printables/makerworld will both take them down.
- Comment on 90% of Games Developers Already Using AI in Workflows, According to New Google Cloud Research 1 month ago:
I mean, it makes complete sense. Photoshop has had ‘magic fill’ for a long time and that’s basically just stable diffusion inpainting.
I’ve had a lot of customers of mine using AI tools to be able to create things they’d never have been able to hire anyone to do, or be able to learn themselves.
It’s really easy too, for an artist that only does 2D shading, etc - to convert their 2D character to 3D and get textures, while cleaning up and continuing the work. Sites like Meshy are really good for quick prototypes, and then you can swap them out later for fully produced models. Especially indie games where someone might not have the artistic chops, but they have the programming chops.
- Comment on YSK that despite being outside of US jurisdiction, Lego has dropped diversity and inclusion terminology from its annual report 1 month ago:
Bad news, their patent expired and they in turn, trademarked the bricks. They sue everyone under trademark now, instead of patent infringement.

I see the same severity that I always have - the issue is Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Vine, Tiktok, etc are all just finally sinking into the swamp that is the internet. It’s all been under the surface, you just never participated in the real internet, and it’s starting to invade your spaces now is all.
- Comment on I swear they’ve changed but I haven’t 1 month ago:
It’s clear you’ve never been a real big part of the internet. It hasn’t changed. It’s always been “the wild west”, full of misinformation, maliciousness, callousness, etc.
