There was a thread of people pointing out biases that exist on Lemmy, and some commenters obviously mention anti-AI people. Cue the superiority complex (cringe).
Some of these people actually believe UBI will become a thing for people who lose their jobs due to AI, meanwhile the billionaire class is actively REMOVING benefits for the poor to further enrich themselves.
What really gets me is when people KNOW what the hell we’re talking about, but then mention the 1% use case scenario where AI is actually useful (for STEM) and act like that’s what we’re targeting. Like no, motherfucker. We’re talking about the AI that’s RIGHT IN FRONT OF US, contributing to a future where we’re all braindead ai-slop dependent, talentless husks of human beings. Not to mention unemployed now.

Not all AI is bad. But there’s enough widespread AI that’s helping cut jobs, spreading misinformation (or in some cases, actual propaganda), creating deepfakes, etc, that in many people’s eyes, it paints a bad picture of AI overall. I also don’t trust AI because it’s almost exclusively owned by far right billionaires.

I think Jesus’ backstory plays into the manipulative auntie strat where they made 1 singular sacrifice in their life and because of that you have to be grateful and mow the lawn, Willy.

Soldier of Fortune: Payback
I already knew some of the writing was bad, and the cutscenes/animations were fever dream-esque. Despite that I really enjoyed the feel of the combat, and how destructible enemies’ bodies are in the game.
I’ll be honest. I was curious and looked up reviews of the game, and saw mostly negative-looking videos. But I chose not to watch them because I didn’t want to ruin my enjoyment of the game. I know the game is bad. But I still like it. I will say though that it’s mostly because of nostalgia.
There are some objectively bad things about SOF Payback though: regular human bosses that are bullet sponges for whatever reason and the pc port of the game being unplayable.
If you can get it cheap or p2p it, totally worth it. Not worth $10 on GoG though imo.

- Comment on An earnest question about the AI/LLM hate 2 months ago:
AI becoming much more widespread isn’t because it’s actually that interesting. It’s all manufactured. Forcibly shoved into our faces. And for the negative things AI is capable of, I have an uneasy feeling about all this.

And that’s their choice to. But some people are sick of planned obsolescence and wish to use their phones for as long as the hardware doesn’t give.

This is what makes me excited for Linux phones to finally become viable. Every major phone manufacturer is making their UX worse and expanding their hidden spyware for the sake of profits.
Graphene os is great but you can only install it on a Pixel. But they give extended support for older devices which is nice. HOWEVER, people are making Linux builds for even older devices, including the iphone 6. Getting a new phone after 7 years might not be necessary in the future.

Simple, stop buying Call of Duty games. And for fucks sake, stop purchasing microtransactions.
I’ve boycotted Activision ever since I read how their treatment of a female employee led to her suicide.

Lethal Company. It was developed by one person, yet it outsold Call of Duty. It trended from 2023 to 2024, but I still play it at least weekly. A couple Lethal Company clone games have come out and some say one (R.E.P.O) is better, and graphically I would say yes, but nothing quite matches Lethal Company’s charm.
