it can make them more brittle (eapecially alongside prolonged time in the elements outside), but in a controlled environment like this it should be fine for a while :)

i have been trying to understand what information i send to people and how i send it in an attempt to try and get as lottle data into msrecall as possible.
im not quite there yet (and probably wont be before the oct cutoff) because my mother still uses windows & emails me sometimes, and a few of my friends on discord use windows. its really difficult because i have no control over my data being scraped by products i do not use and have never accepted a eula for. its… aggravating :(

tell your friends.
- Comment on Microsoft Word documents will be saved to the cloud automatically on Windows going forward 1 day ago:
there is a reaching hand that goes further than just using it for work.
lets say you open libreoffice writer and write a party invite. you send this party invite to a friend - they are invited to your party.
your friend opens it in MSWord, its uploaded to the cloud and scraped for all of your personal data to train their AI and to be sold to the lowest bidder.
you had and want nothing to do with microsoft, but they are still harvesting your data.

i was so confused when i visited a friend in kentucky and they were talking about the lightning bugs and how pretty they are.
they were dumbfounded when i had never heard of them; they talked for the rest of the day about how much awe i would he in once i saw them.
… they were fireflies. i had to pretend like it was the most amazing thing i had ever seen because i told them i hadnt even heard of them before.

- Comment on Flight attendant union leaders ‘ready to go to jail’ as Air Canada strike outlawed 1 week ago:
if it is illegal to go on strike, then this union is not a union. the power of the workers comes from the ability to withhold required manpower for operations to continue if you are treated poorly. when workers do not have this leverage, corporations will treat its employees as poorly as possible.

good point; i was thinking school bus. he could also have a stable job ensuring everyone has transportation in his community. still kinda hot

so he has a stable job that helps children (and by proxy their families) with daily life. that sounds pretty hot to me?
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 2 weeks ago:
im not sure if this counts because its still in early access, but this game is one of those that is perpetually in early access without plans to legit release (like project zombiid, etc).
i picked up Turing Complete and have been learning(painfully slowly) how to make cpu’s : D

if a game company doesnt support me, then i dont support the game company.
fomo is hard to get over at first, but after missing out and realizing its nbd you will realize that companies attempting to enforce behavior you disagree with will no longer be able to hold you hostage.
- Comment on Zuckerberg says people without AI glasses will be at a disadvantage in the future 4 weeks ago:
The glasses let users listen to music, take photos or videos, and ask Meta AI questions…
so… there is no benefit to wearing them.
i would love a new technology that does something groundbreaking (though only if it has an open source equivalent; im not buying anything from facebook), but this doesnt seem like it.

- Comment on How did you decide what you generally wanted to do with your life? 4 weeks ago:
through k-12 i wanted to be a pilot because my grandfather flew a plane as a hobby.
in college, i bounced between pilot, music composition, auto mechanics, musical theatre.
dropped out of college and did hairnet & nametag jobs for a while and asked my uncle to get me a gig as an associate PA for movies (but he wouldnt even return my call).
a friend of mine worked for a video game company and said he’d hire me to be on the phones because i just needed work, so i decided to do that for a year or two…
i worked at that company for 14 years moving from customer service to QA to software engineering. now working as a software engineer for a boring non-game company.
its not necessarily what i want to do, but it pays the bills and i dont mind being bored with it for another 23ish years until i retire.
#adulthood :/

i have been running into another issue, though it may be a firefox issue: playing some filetypes fail to play on web browser but work fine on jellyfin app (i believe my settings are correct for hardware decode on server where it can)
i still have to put some time into figuring it out tho (havent really done my research yet)
- Comment on How to play games from GOG and Epic Games on Linux, SteamOS and Steam Deck 1 month ago:
lutris definitely takes the cake when it comes to customizability, but i consider it a bit hard on the UX… especially for new users.
i always recommend Heroic first, and if there are problems then one can use lutris (or bottles in really bad situations) as a backup.

new vegas, there was a mobile one, and i think there was an only-online one that i missed.
just never got around to playing those. my backlog is mighty, and FO4 was a freebie i picked up within the last year or two.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 1 month ago:
i played a bit of fallout 4, but i dont really understand the hype that was around it. its a loading screen simulator with an awful city repair element slapped on top.
not a huge fan :/
it sucks… i really enjoyed all of the previous fallouts i played (FO1, FO2, FO:BoS, FO3) and expected something better.
