- Comment on Son received an expensive gift from his new best friend, should I ask him to return it? 18 hours ago:
I grew up house poor, and one of our closest family friends was very wealthy. I never quite got a gift that expensive but it did happen. Frequently got gifts that were $200 or more which is more than we could’ve returned. One year i got a gaming console and a bunch of games. That was my first console at a time my dad was unemployed for over a year.
If it bothered my parents, they never said anything. I do think if i had to return some of those gifts i would’ve been resentful. Not all people give gifts and expect the same monetary value in return. In fact that is part of the point for them because it is a gift that someone wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. I try to do gifts like that too except I’m not rich so i try to guess what something they need but don’t know about. Both can serve the same purpose of getting a gift that they wouldn’t have gotten themselves by removing a barrier (cost in one case, research on the other).
You have already asked the parents, the parents are cool with it, sons friend is cool with it, and your son is cool with it. I think you should be cool with it too. I do think this will make giving gifts to this friend difficult, so you’ll need to have your son lean in that second category. Or if sons friend is self aware about money he won’t be asking for $1k+ gifts from friendsq

(Mormons)
Btw from fact there was a multi million dollar marketing campaign to promote the usage of “Mormon”. They had giant ads in big cities, had a stupid website for members to fill out a “i am Mormon” profile to share to people, etc.
Then a new prophet came along and it’s the funniest thing. God suddenly changed his mind and said no we don’t want to use the word “Mormon”. Truly divine inspiration! 🙌

I found it ironic to see the financial advisors that list themselves there. Of course conservatives won’t understand that irony

If you’re creating a community to sexualize something then lemmynsfw would be the best place for it imo unless there is already an instance for that topic (furry, anime, etc). It has nothing to do with how popular or commonplace a thing like bikinis are.
Personally one of the things i love about lemmy is that there’s a lot less objectifying women on my /all than reddit because a lot of these ‘bikini’ (and similar) communities are mostly under a single instance which can be defederated.
- Comment on Am I Being Unreasonable In Regards To A Paid App? 5 weeks ago:
Ignore community members. But ultimately if your requests or questions aren’t heard then given it is closed source and you’re a paying customer then i would leave a bad review or update an existing review. Obviously if it’s open source then i wouldn’t recommend that route but for closed source they already have your money so the only way to make them care is with reviews.
Tldr i think you’ve been quite reasonable but don’t afraid to leave bad reviews for closed source apps that have your money and who are ignoring you

Not sure, but before using any AI girlfriend id check it this video. I think it does a good job if not poking fun at the subject but instead genuinely look into it and what can be learned from it.

Sit for a minute or two to air dry and then use a towel or few pieces of toilet paper to touch up any wet spot. Still much less toilet paper than if you didn’t use a Bidet.
Also some Bidets have actual blowers lol.

Would you like this in excel formula, VBA, or python?
It can be done in all. You’re only proving the other poster’s point. Excel isn’t necessarily the best option for tech literate people but given the tech illiteracy of many offices, it isn’t surprising they use excel for stuff like this.

- Comment on Here's a hot take about Sekiro 5 months ago:
It took me a long time to get the sekiro timings down but they are not “all over the place”. They are literally timed with when you would get hit and take damage.
Deflect (there is no parry) too soon and you won’t take damage by you’ll receive posture damage. Deflect on time and you get no damage and no posture damage. Deflect too late and you get damage and posture penalty.
What i liked about sekiro is that it taught me how to be a better DS player. In DS i never bothered to parry, but after being forced to learn the deflect mechanic i went back to DS and was able to do parry more consistently. That aside, the game had fun, challenging combat and the narrative was compelling.
