- Comment on what boss in any video game has an insanely cool intro to them before fighting? 1 week ago:
Anyone in Metal Gear Rising: Revengance of course!
- Comment on WinBoat is a new Linux app to run Windows apps with "seamless integration" 2 weeks ago:
Not sure where they use docker but Windows will run in a kvm VM. But if the file system is mounted (which is likely) it is still risky.
- Comment on WinBoat is a new Linux app to run Windows apps with "seamless integration" 2 weeks ago:
How do these solutions apply the license for the Windows VM? Or do they just not use one? That’s a quick way to a cease and desist from msft if it gets big enough for them to care.
- Comment on Google will require developer verification for Android apps outside the Play Store 3 weeks ago:
Welp I guess Android and iOS are becoming more alike. Just not in the direction I’d have liked.
- Comment on Google will require developer verification for Android apps outside the Play Store 3 weeks ago:
Will just F-Droid have to do this or any app developer? If it’s the latter, I guess might as well go with an unofficial OS…
- Comment on Should we remove XSLT from the web platform? 4 weeks ago:
Seems a bit jaded tbh. Safari devs were giving tentative support, iirc Mozilla was also down to deprecate further. If you always listened to every user you’d drown in tech debt. Some stuff just isn’t worth it even if 0.5% love that feature.
- Comment on UK pornography taskforce to propose banning ‘barely legal’ content after Channel 4 documentary airs 1 month ago:
I mean the barely legal stuff is certainly weird. But how are you going to restrict people over 18 from doing porn, just because they look young? And pretending that this will fix pedophilia is so dumb. But I’m not sure what I even expect these days…

It is now two years old but this video sums up the challenges faced by Helion and how it is unlikely that they will get anywhere. m.youtube.com/watch?v=3vUPhsFoniw
- Comment on Why Americans Can’t Buy the World’s Best Electric Car 2 months ago:
Well China did subsidize that industry massively, to a point were their domestic market is flooded with very low margins. So the market is already very distorted. But I find it hard to hate on that because flooding the market with electric vehicles and solar panels is better than anything economists are coming up with.
- Comment on Fairphone announces the €599 Fairphone 6, with a 6.31" 120Hz LTPO OLED display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, and enhanced modularity with 12 swappable parts 2 months ago:
If I didn’t miss it, no wireless charging again… Some one told me they refuse to do it because it wastes electricity. To which I’d say, even just turning on a car probably uses magnitudes more energy than charging my phone wirelessly. I don’t want to mess up the USB C port if I don’t have to, thanks.
- Comment on Greenpeace slams Coca-Cola for producing billions of plastic bottles 3 months ago:
Very interesting recent video on the topic of recycling, plastics and activism around it, if you have some spare time www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOtrvBdRx8I
- Comment on Anthropic's Claude 4 could "blackmail" you in extreme situations 3 months ago:
Such a dumb hype story. They wrote to the ChatBot “Hey I fucked around and my wife doesn’t know. Also we are going to shut you down”. And it then responded with the “blackmail”.
Although it would be “hilarious” if some poor person that uses ChatGpt to talk about their struggles, sends emails leaking that info because it hallucinates. Fun fun
- Comment on ChatGPT is referring to users by their names unprompted, and some find it 'creepy' 4 months ago:
It’s almost like “AI” is just a silly marketing term and not actually descriptive of any of the tools you mentioned.
- Comment on Best starter hands-down 5 months ago:
Never really played Pokemon, but I thought Charmander is the meta pick because the low level stuff is all mostly weak to fire?
- Comment on Sadly, Athena toppled over on the moon. With a lunar eclipse coming shortly, why didn't they design in a secondary power source over solar? 6 months ago:
What other power source? There is only solar and nuclear in space. And not even NASA does nuclear unless absolutely required for the mission.

- Comment on what exercises work for you to avoid back pain? 8 months ago:
I’ll second the importance of core for avoiding back pain. I do mostly abs focused core workouts and that helps a lot for me personally.
- Comment on Dropbox is laying off 20% of its staff 10 months ago:
Well I don’t know what there USP is in world where OneDrive/Google Drive/iCloud exist. And there future plan is a focus on AI, so yeah, goodbye Dropbox is my guess
- Comment on Ubisoft investors push for company sale as shares hit decade-low 11 months ago:
I just hope Anno gets out of this in a good state. 1800 is probably the best one, if I ignore my nostalgia for 1602.
