This. THIS is how you do anime. What a masterpiece of an episode.
At the start of the episode, we have no reason to care about Acrobatic Silky. At the end when she dies, we care SO MUCH about Acrobatic Silky. I had goosebumps.

I’ll probably give it another episode or two. I remembered the helicopter thing. It’s just I feel like very little has happened. I mean, we start with him epically selling his party into slavery and then Alma shows up being a total badass and NOT being a Mecha-Ude, and then… oh no, drugs and gangs and slavery…
If anything, the fact the girl was still holding on to the helicopter even after the whole Mayor incident is interesting. Assuming it’s not bad writing just for added heartstrings, it means the girl wasn’t actually upset with him as she was cherishing it enough for some random thug to realize its significance.

The fact that it took you so long to figure that out just shows how forgettable the storytelling in this series is. It was a whole thing in episode 4 (which in my brain is episode 1 or 2). I’m honestly starting to get bored out of my mind with the storytelling. I might honestly drop this one.

Well, Bilac specifically requested Crystal Scorpion parts. And we saw Vysache use monster parts Sunraku had to make his moon blades. OH SNAPS! Another moon reference!
Plus this is SLF not some TRASH GAME where the monsters don’t drop the quest items unless you pick up the quest first!

We were so spoiled the particular season this aired. I remember this and Oshi No Ko were airing at the same time. I agree that the reason there’s no season 2 announcement is because they lack the material. Season 1, by all accounts, did great.
I’m also convinced we’re watching two distinct timelines, so looking forward to that shocking reveal.
- Comment on As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World Season 2 • Tensei Kizoku, Kantei Skill de Nariagaru 2nd Season - Episode 6 discussion 1 week ago:
I remember reading that portion and thinking that the deduction Ars comes to in that moment really came out of nowhere Interesting, because having not read the manga, I thought putting them in the room with all the toys was a bit odd. But it sounds that was a better setup than whatever the manga did.
When Ars’ appraise ability didn’t work on the craftsman I was wondering what was going on. I had COMPLETELY forgotten that the episode title was “Evolution”. One thing that constantly bugs me about this series is the fact that Ars is a reincarnation is NEVER relevant. The title would be better as something like, “My Seemingly Useless Appraise Skill is Secretly Overpowered!”

Just when Sunraku starts implementing his totally-legit-not-at-all-cheese crystal scorpion destruction strategy, something new shows up.
The new rare monster is insanely OP! Offense, defense, and regeneration all in one package. It looks like the devs really, REALLY don’t want you farming crystal scorpion materials.
In the middle of all this, we get a sneak peak into some SLF lore. The Gold Scorpion uses the moon to regenerate. The moon was also a major part of the Wethermon lore. It makes me wonder about other Colossi, like how Lycagon only appears at night.
During the battle, Sunraku finally gets his prized crystal scorpion stinger from the new rare Golden Scorpion! Huzzah!
Even with that epiphany, this is mostly just a combat episode. The whole, “I can only travel to the inventoria a limited number of times” seemed like a pretty dumb and unnecessary limitation added just to increase the tension a bit. But I’ll let it slide because the “oh no, now I have no weapon” actual limitation was both a surprising twist and a really good climax tension builder.
Can’t wait to see Bilac’s face when he shows up with the Gold Crystal Scorpion parts!

Yippie! I wonder if they’ll go camping this season! I bed it’ll be very chill and laid back. Seriously love the vibe of this series.

We learn what happened to Machina and also get to see Machina being a badass before she predictably loses to Marcus.
Takahashi does movie-logic computer hacking to speed the plot along.
Veltol and Gram end up joining forces and have a lovers spat, surprising no one.

Full agree. You kind of have to turn your brain off and just enjoy the fights. But the story?
“We need to protect Alma at all costs”
“Oh, so I should stay in hiding in a secret bunker or something? Maybe joining the rebel forces so I’m surrounded my protection?”
“Nah, just live at home and go to school like normal”
“Oh, so the bad guys don’t know who I am or where I live and switching my routine might clue them in?”
“No, they know full well who you are and where you live. They even sent someone to the same school as you.”
“Oh, so you think I’m so powerful that they can’t touch me?”
“No, we think you’re worthless. But we gave you a bodyguard that doesn’t follow orders very well and has been defeated several times already so it should be fine. Plus in this episode you develop the power of FRIENDSHIP!”

Lena x Shin hits even harder because they never see each other until the very final episode. Witch from Mercury is on my watchlist so I’ll have to give it a go.

Most of the episode just explains Koga’s tragic backstory and it still somehow fails to make Koga interesting.
The best part of the whole episode is seeing the back-stabbing mayor get his arm cut off.
- Comment on What are your best revenge anime? 2 weeks ago:
I think I would agree with you. The other big name seems to be Kill La Kill and while I agree that it’s a great revenge anime, Oshi No Ko nails the subtleties of revenge. It’s way more nuanced and realistic.

My favorite romance anime is My Dress-up Darling. I could watch it on repeat.
- Comment on Demon Lord 2099 • Maou 2099 - Episode 4 discussion 2 weeks ago:
Right? It’s also comically villainous. Like being evil just for the sake of being evil. They could’ve teased it a bit more and done a Soylent Green… “Soylent Aether… is PEOPLE!” Then again, calling it the “Immortal Reactor” was already a huge hint. I had pretty much figured out they were using immortals as energy just from the name so the exposition wasn’t a huge shock.
The massive juxtaposition though… like it’s a bit wacky with the whole “I’m going to be a streamer” thing (which I thought was awesome) then this.

Ngl, the Trapped in a Dating Sim anime is what got me reading more light novels. The anime wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was still so good. I wanted more of that world and the light novels didn’t disappoint.
- Comment on What are your best romance animes with an assertive male protagonist? 2 weeks ago:
Hmm… if it has to have an assertive male character I’d probably have to say Toradora or Horimiya.
It is interesting how much romance doesn’t have an assertive male lead. Like my absolute favorite romance is My Dress Up Darling but I wouldn’t call the male lead in that one assertive. And a lot of romance have the male lead completely panic any time a girl is on the same planet as them, lol.
- Comment on What is your best isekai anime? 2 weeks ago:
Overall, probably Slime Isekai. It’s got a good mix of wholesomeness, action, comedy, and world building. And it has just the right amount of OP in the MC.
Overlord is a good runner up. Great character development, good story and humor, intriguing world, etc.
Mushoku is easy top 5 but the bullying and horny drop it down a few notches for me.
Konosuba is also top 5. It nails the parody.
For non-anime, Reincarnated as a Sword is my favorite isekai light novel series, not that I’ve read all that many isekai light novels. However the anime adaptation was mediocre at best. It barely touches on the deep world creation and character development found in the LN.
For video game isekai, Shangri-La Frontier. No trapped in a video game nonsense. No completely unrealistic game mechanics. The game feels like it could be a real game. And the MC is OP only in the sense that they’re good at games, not because of cheats.
Villainess isekai is practically it’s own thing now and I have my favorites there as well but the classic is All Routes Lead to Doom.
I really love isekai so I could keep going but I’ll stop here before I start talking about Trapped in a Dating Sim.

False. I was issued that mouse at a previous workplace and it pissed me off so much I brought in my own mouse. And my experience was that when the mouse was fully dead it needed to charge a long time to be usable again.
- Comment on I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History • Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naruzo - Episode 5 discussion 3 weeks ago:
Loved the chibi. Reminded me a bit of Reincarnated as the Villainess, All Routes Lead to Doom.
The Liz mind control thing is very concerning. If she’s doing it on purpose with some ancient magic, then that would mean she’s not the goodie-goodie she’s supposed to be. It might be some twisted sense of right and wrong where the end justifies the means. Or she could be like Alicia in that she wants to be the greatest heroine and get everyone, even the villainess, to like her. The latter makes the most sense to me in how she always praising and defending Alicia. Regardless, Liz’s motives are the most questionable thing for me right now.
I rewatched the other episodes and there seem to be subtle hints that Alicia’s birth coincided with the blossoming of a Black rose but her father is hiding this so Alicia can live a normal life. It would explain why she has the power to negate Liz’s brain-washing.
One other thing I found note-worthy is how Alicia is pointing out the differences between how things are playing out VS how they played out in the game. For instance, she was never at that tea party. It got me thinking about all the other deviations and the biggest one has to be that she was asked to watch Liz at all. If she was exiled in the original game ending then that means she wouldn’t have had royal backing to monitor Liz. I wonder what other differences will happen moving forward.
- Comment on Whatever happened to racing games 3 weeks ago:
It feels like we used to be spoiled for choice and now there’s only a few select titles out. A lot of racing franchises got ruined by micro-transaction garbage. Project Cars decided to go in an entirely different direction with their latest installment and basically ruined the game. Most games no longer support split screen so if you want to race locally with friends you basically only have Mario Kart.
There’s still games though. Forza, Gran Truismo, F1 24, Asseto Corsa, Need For Speed… But even so it feels like something is missing. There’s not a lot to fill in the Wipeout niche, or the Burnout niche. I miss random things like Midtown Madness and Twisted Metal. I really want a good racing combat experience again.

- Comment on Guess who’s suing the FTC to stop ‘click to cancel’ | Companies fight back to make subscription services easy to cancel 3 weeks ago:
It’s so fucking stupid. If you can sign up with a click, you should be able to cancel with a click. There’s no justifiable argument against that other than corporate greed.
I do remember one of my most satisfying cancelation calls though. I just kept saying, “No.” Just “no”. No added explanation. No added reasoning. It frustrated the retention employee so much. They were like “but WHY?” They couldn’t try to convince me not to quit since I didn’t give them any reasons for why I didn’t want it, just that I didn’t want it.

I typically use the fact that there are trees older than 4000 years old based on tree ring data. Or that there are stars in the sky further than 4000 light years away that we can see in the sky.
That usually makes them say something like how their God created an world that was already aged. So I usually counter with the fact that would make their God a lier and deceiver.
Some hold firm and say God did to to test faith. Others back pedal and try to blame it on Satan. That Satan scattered all this false evidence just to make us question the notion that Earth is 4000 years old to make people lose faith in God. And then I have to laugh at how stupid their argument is and how weak their God is.
