I don’t think so. The Jellyfin documentation still says it sucks lol.

As someone who uses Gnome familly applications daily, I have to disagree with the notion that bad UX is fundamental to FOSS software. The gnome apps and shell all follow the same set of UX guidelines and feel quite cohesive as a result. I can definetly see where you get the idea of bad UX in foss though (looking at you, GIMP and Libreoffice)
- Comment on Migrating from Nextcloud AIO to Owncloud Infinite Scale: Good Idea? 2 weeks ago:
Filestash looks awesome! I tried the demo on my phone and it was way snappier than Nextcloud or even Google drive lol. I mostly use Nextcloud for documents and for calender and contacts, so I might replace nextcloud soon given how slow it usually is.

Scalpers make a gamble that the price will go up. This time, they lost that gamble.
- Comment on After six years of hardware ray tracing, the best examples of it are modified old games, like Quake and Minecraft. 4 weeks ago:
I think part of the push is just from Nvidia to try and get vendor lock-in, like they have with CUDA. Many games that use raytracing will only work on “RTX” cards which are only sold by Nvidia. Raytracing also has the benefit of increasing demand for upscaling, like DLSS, which further increases vendor lock-in.
Also, most devs are going to be using some sort of game engine where the hard parts of rasterization are already taken care of, like with Lumen in Unreal Engine 5.
- Comment on Cable companies ask 5th Circuit to block FTC’s click-to-cancel rule | Cable companies worry rule will make it hard to talk customers out of canceling 5 weeks ago:
I think waiting on the phone for an hour just to argue with someone to cancel a subscription is reasonable, as long as the signup process also involved waiting on the phone for an hour before an agent tried to talk you out of buying the service.
But if I signed up on a website in 30 seconds, it should take tine or less to unsubscribe on the same website.

I generally find that peertube lacks much content but I’ve found a few channels that I am actually interested it. I find that the video quality is usually higher than what youtube gives me, so I use peertube for the few videos a month I can.
Also, I’m replying from a linux phone running postmarketos, a pixel 3a specifically.

By this metric, the wii is better than the switch since it can backup saves without a subscription or internet connection.

- Comment on California will force companies to admit you don't own digital content 2 months ago:
It more akin to having a 15 year period to pick up your Mona Lisa painting replicate after buying it. Although if this was Nintendo’s Mona Lisa, the painting would self destruct if it’s moved to a different wall.
- Comment on California will force companies to admit you don't own digital content 2 months ago:
Nintendo usually doesn’t do the right thing, but they kept the wii shop working for around 15 years after the console released, which seems reasonable enough, though for how much hosting costs they should still be offering downloads. IIRC you could store downloaded games on an SD cars so you could make a backup. Now the WiiU and 3DS, their online stuff shuttered too early. If I had bought Mariokart 8 digitally for my WiiU and wanted to redownload it, I would be unable, yet Nindendo still sells the same game on their newer switch store. The only Nintendo games I can say I own are the ones decrypted on my NAS that work with FOSS emulators.

- Comment on [Video] VFX Artist Reveals the True Scale of Minecraft 2 months ago:
Yeah, I found the comparisons of world size when using seeds to be a bit useless. Like, if Minecraft updated tomorrow with a 128 bit seed, it would have basically no impact on the game but vastly increases the amount of possible worlds. Other than that, this is a gem of a video.

I bought a small APC UPS about a year ago and am glad I did. In my area, very brief outages are somewhat common so a small UPS will work for the majority of outages.
