- Comment on Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu says he and Donald Trump 'see eye to eye' on Iran 1 week ago:
The part that still baffles me is the whiplash message-swap from “she didn’t cater to us, so she lost” to “well, there aren’t enough of us to make a difference.”
Also of note is the trend towards “I voted for her, but I didn’t like it” in spaces that I clearly remember seeing full of advocates of voting third party or abstaining. Someone should maybe check to see if all of these mysterious new votes were counted!

The birthday problem fits into this somehow, but I can’t quite get there right now. Something like an inverse birthday problem to illustrate how, even though the probability of two monkeys typing the same letter rises quickly as more monkeys are added to the mix, and at a certain point (n+1, where n is “possible keystrokes”) it is inevitable that at least two monkeys will key identically, the inverse isn’t true.
If you have 732 people in a room, there’s no guarantee that any one of them was born on August 12th.
There’s another one that describes this better but it escapes me.

- Comment on Why don't we just gather up all the ocean's trash and all the nonrecyclables, put them in a rocket, and launch it into the sun? 3 weeks ago:
Gathering all the trash to launch it into the sun isn’t easy, as many comments have pointed out. Not only do you have to counteract the velocity of Earth, but I’d expect you’d need a way to keep them alive on the trip there as well. I mean, I’m assuming you want them to be cognizant until the end, yeah?

- Comment on Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur Official Trailer 3 months ago:
This is the original game. Settlers of Kalguur is the newest league (think “season”) launching at the end of this week.
PoE 2 goes into early access sometime later this year, whenever that is. Regardless, they’ll be two distinct experiences, with many players planning to devote some time to both.
If you’re interested in starting PoE, my general advice is that the best time was yesterday. In this case, with a new league starting this week, I’d still encourage anyone to play around in the non-league standard just to get an early feel for things before Friday. PoE has a notoriously steep learning curve, so it’s never too early to log a few hours and experience the opening acts.
- Comment on USA'ers of this instance do you think a two woman ticket would give Democrats the white house again? 3 months ago:
Could? Possibly, sure.
Would? Why should any ticket guarantee a win based solely on arbitrary characteristics of the candidates? Nothing about being a woman, a man, trans, cis, gay, straight, bi, ace, black, white, Latino, Asian, biracial, triracial, short, tall, hirsute, bald, balding, skinny, jacked, overweight, or any other randomly chosen descriptor should be a factor in electability. The fact that it’s even in question is a strong indictment of how we view politics in a broad sense.
