- Comment on Incoming border czar tells illegal immigrants to ‘self deport’ ahead of Trump’s term 1 week ago:
No, you see, they say this, then they only deport like 1k people (because it take a lot of time, people and money) and say the rest self deported out of fear. Mission accomplished!

NGL, that is how I first learned of the song, and I do love it.

Correct, capitalism is just a system intended to prioritize capital using markets. Science is a methodology of determining truth. As a method, it is tautologically “perfect” because all failures are to be accounted for by the very methodology. The choices that capitalist systems make and socialist systems would make may be different, but the decision-making process itself could be run scientifically.

If you had told me in 2008 that electing the first black man President would create racial issues in the US, I would have said, that’s fine, we need to get passed this. If you had told me that electing Obama would have lead to President Trump, I may have voted for McCain. (Assuming I believed the foretelling)

My rebuttal to this is (they usually include murder as the bad thing being done), “Are you telling me fear of hell is the only thing keeping you from murdering me right now? Says a lot more about your morals than mine.”

Nice, def picking that up. You know what would also be amazing? A series of audio episodes, like BBC style radio comedies. The voice cast is sooo good. I’m just imagining how amazing a collab with John Finnemore would be.

The funniest part is that privileged people get pissy about being called by their title all the time, it does sometimes materialize in jokes, but that’s still punching up.
As a fun experiment I misgender bigots until they got mad about it. It doesn’t take long.

Yes however, though I enjoyed the movies, and though I am not a stickler for canon, I do dislike how they don’t really contain the hopeful futurism that Trek was created to portray.

Really I think it’s kind of the opposite. There are plenty of jobs awaiting higher skilled labor. Just as Excel didn’t hurt accounting, it gave many people who weren’t trained I’m accounting to take on more tasks than they would have.

I’ve heard it as “No one is losing their job to AI, but they will lose their jobs to someone who is using AI.”

My guess,
- It was too hard to create a non-authenticated algorithm which could let users delete their past participation.
- They realized their non-auth algorithm was exposing too much info about what is going on during the upcoming election. And they are afraid that people will see all the fasc recommendations.
