GoG does have DRM games now, check out Hitman.
Also Steam has plenty of non DRM games, like Witcher 3 for example
- Comment on Why do you need a launcher? (asking older gamers actually) 18 hours ago:
I never liked Steam when it was first released, it was problematic, slowed down my machine and caused me frustration.
Now it’s different. I agree with Gene Newell that piracy is a service issue, I haven’t pirated any games since steam started to fill its library with other non Valve games that I wanted.
I also appreciate the additional features that it brings like the community features and guides and managing updates for me.
It’s not perfect, nothing is, buy I prefer it to managing my own files and updates.

- Comment on "Not A Single Pixel" Of The New Ecco Game Will Be Generated By AI, Insists Series Creator 1 week ago:
Using AI for code requires a high level of specificity, software houses that are getting the most out of it are not using it so much inline or vibe coding because as you say that leads to hallucinations or having to repeat yourself.
The common approach now is to use multiple agents with different responsibilities, the human effectively becomes a team leader and uses one chatbot to orchestrate a plan being very specific about the outcomes and the requirements and breaking the plan down into phases,
Another agent will be used to write the code, they will have set rules files to keep them on guard rails, they will check their work as they go and deliver a pull request at the end of it for the human to check and approve
The next agent will be there to write tests and check the work of the second agent.
It’s a lot more work than writing a single prompt and expecting a good outcome or close approximation, but it is getting better results now.

The reality is software engineers will use AI or will find themselves out of work as they won’t have the skills to get hired.
Customers may never know of AI is used as a tool in game creation but it will always be part of any software and development studio.
Using AI for music or design assets is totally different from using it for the code base and blanket statements don’t improve the situation

It’s one of my current favourite devices.
Although funnily enough I know mostly play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite instead of any emulation.
- Comment on Tyranny: Recommended starting character with a mind to story, not ease of combat? 1 month ago:
Its been a long time since I played this, but I remember that you will have to play it through at least 3 time for each story arc, so pick a faction and loyalty and Stick with it, don’t play both sides.
Also in terms of character class I would suggest some kind of magic user, Tyranny had a cool, quite unique magic system where you can craft your own spells.
There’s a good amount of NPC party members you can find so you’ll be able to fill in any gaps in your party eventually.
It’s a great game, a shame they didn’t develop a sequel, I prefered it to Pillars of Eternity, have fun!

This is not a new or strange thing

That’s great to hear because, well… I’ve just bought one.
- Comment on My review on the AYN Odin 3 1 month ago:
Really interesting review, thank you.
When you say this isn’t ready for most people, is that because the software needs more time, or the hardware isn’t there yet?
If I bought one of these today, could I expect to see better compatibility over the next 6 months to year with Steam games, or will it still be mostly for Android games and old system emulators?
- Comment on 2 months ago:
Yeah the subtext of the article is the more interesting point, that good quality indy games are perhaps a bit more expensive.
- Comment on [Darktide] I'm actually really excited for the Scum 2 months ago:
Yeah I think it’s cool too, used to love Confrontation and Necromunda, had no interest in Scitari.
From the sounds of the Dev blog the character build options are really interesting, so I’m optimistically looking forward to it.

Rings of Saturn is a brilliant game too, everyone should check it out, it’s super atmospheric.

No, you can do it with software now, even a mobile phone, it’s just a small low powered machine that does Streaming

It worked for me, I didn’t buy a Steam Machine, but I bought a few Steam Controllers and have been gaming on Linux ever since.

With all the inputs on the front of the controller and 4 on the back you have plenty of options.

Did you pick up any of the DLC? I think there are different versions or additional DLC right?
I’m thinking of picking it up too, but not sure if just the vanilla version will be ‘complete’ enough.

The thing about sites like these is that they are augmented by other sites like YouTube or Imgur.
If you live in the UK now, you won’t be able to open Imgur links, catbox rarely works and YouTube requires age verification.
There are of course alternatives, but they’re barely used.

The game looks great, but the performance is poor and unoptimised.
Apparently there isn’t much of an end-game, but from what I understand this is typical of MH games until a DLC comes out

I mean things like Discord and Revolt, even Reddit is better for communities to discuss things about mods than the Nexus site

It should all be open source.
First thing is mods should just exist on free hosting providers for source code like GitHub/Lab etc.
Then an optional mod manager software that can import mods from these sources.
Non of this really needs a centralised community, these places already exist thanks to other better suited services like social media
