Wouldn’t it be cheaper to simply not plant any grass? Lay down a heavy layer of gravel and call it a day.
- Comment on Petition: Prohibit publishers irrevocably disabling video games they have already sold 6 days ago:
I’m in an optimistic pessimistic mood right now so I upvoted both of you.
- Comment on HDMI 2.2 cranks the bandwidth to 96Gbps and aims to eliminate audio sync issues forever 2 weeks ago:
The point I’m making is that we will still have to deal with motion blur at 240 and 480Hz, so I might as well save some money and hang onto my 4K120 OLED until we reach 1000Hz.
- Comment on HDMI 2.2 cranks the bandwidth to 96Gbps and aims to eliminate audio sync issues forever 2 weeks ago:
Let me know when we have cables that can hit 1000Hz at 8K, so I can finally own a blur-free OLED. Until then, I’m perfectly content with 4K120.
- Comment on Amazon worker who was ran over and shot during NO attack denied medical leave. 2 weeks ago:
Which is so bizarre because when I worked for them, they would let me come in late as often as I wanted to, and take as much leave as I needed.
I went on so many mental health breaks when I worked for them. It was nice to have.
- Comment on Almost the entire US South is now being blocked by Pornhub 2 weeks ago:
So basically only the worst states in the country have this law. Color me surprised.
- Comment on Almost the entire US South is now being blocked by Pornhub 2 weeks ago:
No but I use a 3rd party DNS, which might have something to do with it, now that you mention it.

Speaking of which, can anyone please tell me why XHamster now requires a Virgina ID to visit the website, even though I live nowhere near that shithole?
- Why does it have to be a Virginia ID specifically?
- How the hell am I going to get a Virginia ID from out of state?
- Why would anyone give a porn site their ID to begin with? That’s a major invasion of privacy.

Fallout: New Vegas
- Comment on Will pilots-less airplanes happens first, or driver-less cars? Why? 2 weeks ago:
Driverless cars because we already have them. I used to take one to work all the time.
- Comment on It's 2025 now, what are the games you'll be starting the year with? 2 weeks ago:
How? Did you dig an old PC out of storage?
I can’t get New Vegas to run on a modern PC without it constantly crashing, even when with the fan patches and mods that supposedly allow it to work on newer PCs. Please share your secrets.
- Comment on Do people still call each other at midnight on NYE? 2 weeks ago:
Isn’t 1G analog? All voice calls are transmitted digitally and have been since the early 90s.
- Comment on Do people still call each other at midnight on NYE? 2 weeks ago:
Really? Back in the 2000s and 2010s I used to get a whole bunch of mass texts from friends, family, and random people, wishing me a happy new year. Nobody does that anymore.

- Comment on Is there any way to search through all the games on Steam for titles that don't use the word "dystopian" anywhere in the description? 2 weeks ago:
Seriously. Don’t understand why people like those games. Boring lore and repetitive gameplay.

- Comment on What games did you complete in 2024? 4 weeks ago:
How did this person find the time and dedication to complete so many god damn games in just a year? They beat more games this year than I have in my entire life! I get bored or run out of time before I get anywhere near finishing a game.
- Comment on What games did you complete in 2024? 4 weeks ago:
Where do you find the time to not only play, but beat so many games? No job and no SO?
I my 36 years here on earth, I’ve completed maybe 3-4 games total. In my entire life. I almost always get bored or don’t have the time to finish the ones I start. I prefer online games anyway because single player bots tend to be stupid and predictable.

Yeah this is actually really hopeful in a fucked up way. I really hope they legalize psychedelics. They are an extremely effective way to get people to stop voting republican. Worked for me. It woke something up in me that made me realize how selfish and self-serving that entire party is. I’m the only one in my family who no longer votes republican, and also the only one who has tried psychedelics. I think that says a lot.

- Comment on Some videogame ads from the 1990s 1 month ago:
Which is funny because the Neo-Geo was a very much sprite-based 2D machine. What did they even mean by “4D”?
- Comment on Which is better: F-Zero or Super Mario Kart (SNES)? 2 months ago:
Mario Kart 64 and F-Zero X are far superior to both. Never got into the originals. The flatness of Mode 7 was a major turnoff for me as a kid in the 90s. So I waited for 3D on consoles to get better and look more like the 3D I’ve seen on PCs and in the arcade, before I begged my parents for a console for Christmas.
- Comment on An old ad for the Wavebird controller for Gamecube 2 months ago:
Disagree. It didn’t have rumble. That reason alone is why I always stuck with the wired controllers.

Because I’ve never used such a website before and thought I’d give it a try.
- Comment on Bluesky Becoming New Social Media Sensation As Millions Of Americans Snub X Over Musk's Support To Trump 2 months ago:
Finally got around to signing up to Bluesky after avoiding Twitter for almost two decades and, well…I don’t get it. The entire thing is basically just Shower Thoughts, Shower Thoughts featuring politics, and the occasional picture of a cat… That’s it? Really? It’s like a more boring version of Lemmy and Imgur. Please explain what I’m missing here cause I lost all interest after about 30 minutes on the site.
- Comment on Has Fast Food Gotten Worse, or Am I Just Getting Old? 2 months ago:
I’m only partially serious.
Umami isn’t subjective, though. It’s one of the five basic tastes.
- Comment on Has Fast Food Gotten Worse, or Am I Just Getting Old? 2 months ago:
The fact that you don’t like tomatoes in of itself is proof that the problem is with your taste buds. Tomatoes are high glutamic acid (umami), and I’ve never heard of a person who didn’t like savory foods.
There’s a reason why MSG is making a comeback: because it tastes good (and because people are finally starting to figure out that its stigma is deeply-rooted in racism. It’s better for you than salt).
- Comment on Why are people preferring Blue Sky over Mastodon? 2 months ago:
This exactly. I didn’t join Lemmy for a long time, because I would search for “Lemmy”, get confused when I see a page asking me to “pick an instance” instead of seeing a front page, and then leave because I thought that they were all independent from each other.
It wasn’t until reddit killed my favorite app that I finally decided to put in the effort to figure it out.
