This is more convenient than piracy.
- Comment on Spotify to raise prices in September 47 minutes ago:
Not sure cause I use YT Music ReVanced instead for the larger music selection.
- Comment on AOL will end dial-up internet service in September, 34 years after it's debut — AOL Shield Browser and AOL Dialer software will be shuttered on the same day 6 hours ago:
I actually had no idea that Firefox only exists because of AOL. Thanks for sharing that interesting bit of history.
- Comment on Spotify to raise prices in September 6 hours ago:
There is a ReVanced version of Spotify, for people who didn’t already know. Block ads and get premium features for free: revanced.app
(There’s also YT Music ReVanced)
- Comment on Mozilla under fire for Firefox AI "bloat" that blows up CPU and drains battery 17 hours ago:
Reminds me of how some people get upset when their OS uses up all their RAM, no matter how much they have. It’s like they want their PC to be sluggish and unresponsive. Unused RAM is wasted RAM.

His name is Clipit, god damn it.
- Comment on Battlefield 6 cheats day 1 of early access. Depite kernel level anti cheat, forced secure boot TPM 2.0 1 day ago:
Joke’s on them; I already upgraded to Windows 11. I was among the first. It’s actually a solid OS once you disable all the ads and telemetry with O&O Shut Up 10.
- Comment on Sony says it’s not done making Xperia phones just yet 1 day ago:
I just want an Xperia Play 2. Make it a foldable this time around—and as thin as a Samsung Fold 7 (with screens just as large)—and I’m completely sold.
The original was an excellent idea squandered. Had Sony continued to invest in the idea, I could see future Play phones not only being a proper followup to the Vita we never had, but also a major competitor to the Steam Deck.
Come on Sony, be innovative again like you used to. Give me what I want, no, what I need.
- Comment on Transgender, nonbinary and disabled people more likely to view AI negatively, study shows 1 day ago:
Well that explains a lot about Lemmy.
- Comment on Battlefield 6 cheats day 1 of early access. Depite kernel level anti cheat, forced secure boot TPM 2.0 1 day ago:
Same. Keeps things simple with Linux and, Windows doesn’t even complain about it being disabled, so long as it’s present. I’ll never understand this requirement.
- Comment on Spotify fans threaten to return to piracy as music streamer introduces new face-scanning age checks in the UK 5 days ago:
TBF, I was answering your question in its original context (is it worth it for audiophiles). Maybe it’s just my age, but I was assuming that the majority of audiophiles still keep the bulk of their music collection stored on a desktop PC. But IDK, I’m in my late 30s and out of touch.
Anyway I’m happy to help.

I thought that’s what I said but yeah.
- Comment on ChatGPT dissidents, the students who refuse to use AI: ‘I couldn’t remember the last time I had written something by myself’ 5 days ago:
I use it to Google things because modern search engines are garbage compared to how they used to be a decade and a half ago. The AI use (Perplexity) cites its sources, so I can verify what is fact and what is made up slop.
- Comment on What are some games with absolutely fantastic soundtracks? 5 days ago:
The answer is always Chrono Trigger.
30 years later, and still nothing has topped it. No game even comes close.
- Comment on Is it safe to assume the guy i went out on a date with, just wants to sleep with me? 5 days ago:
Don’t even need to read the story: the answer is yes. Obviously. He’s a man.
For men, they often can’t love a woman unless they have sex with them first. For women, they often can’t have sex with a man unless they love them first. There are exceptions to every rule, but in my experience, this is more often than not the truth.
- Comment on ChatGPT dissidents, the students who refuse to use AI: ‘I couldn’t remember the last time I had written something by myself’ 5 days ago:
Probably. I’m 38 and use it daily.
- Comment on Rockstar Games Plans Age Verification For GTA Online 5 days ago:
You might not be able to connect to FiveM (SixM?) servers, which IMO is a major loss. FiveM is the real GTA V.
- Comment on Spotify fans threaten to return to piracy as music streamer introduces new face-scanning age checks in the UK 5 days ago:
The space it takes up is negligible.
The benefit is not in being able to hear a difference (I know I sure can’t), but knowing that you can re-encode the file as many times as you want, without any quality loss (assuming you’re going from lossless to lossless, of course). Or create an mp3 from the flac file at any time, with the same quality as a ripped CD.
So basically FLAC is great if you produce/edit/re-encode your music files often. If you don’t do any of that (and have no plans to future-proof your music collection), then 320Kbps MP3 is more than adequate for your needs.

ReVanced? Or a Spotify downloader?
- Comment on Tesla withheld data, lied, and misdirected police and plaintiffs to avoid blame in Autopilot crash 5 days ago:

- Comment on Mastercard release a statement about game stores, payment processors and adult content 1 week ago:
They don’t need to start a payment processing company. All they gotta do is start accepting crypto again.
I mean come on, the solution is so obvious. This is what cryptocurency was designed for. But Lemmy refuses to see it. You’ll just downvote me and call it a scam like you always do.
- Comment on SEC says it will deregulate cryptocurrencies with 'Project Crypto' 1 week ago:
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
Fuck the haters, you don’t have to pander to them. I like crypto too, and I don’t give a flying fuck how many times I get downvoted for saying that. Investing in BTC and ETH has made me thousands over these past 3 years or so (I can send screenshots as proof to any naysayers). All because I ignore the haters and keep stacking sats.
- Comment on SEC says it will deregulate cryptocurrencies with 'Project Crypto' 1 week ago:
Finally, some good fucking news.
I don’t care how much you hate it, start stocking up on BTC and ETH now. $1,000,000 BTC, here we come! :D
- Comment on Australia to ban under-16s from YouTube 1 week ago:
Nah Google will just do what they did to me and force you to login before you can watch anything.
Which fucking sucks because I used to watch YT logged out all the time so they I could see something new outside of my bubble.

- Comment on AdGuard is yet another app to block Windows Recall 1 week ago:
Normally I would agree, but Nvidia’s tools have come a long way since the GeForce Experience days (goodbye and good riddance to that garbage app).
The features in the Nvidia App are all useful things that I like and enjoy. I’m sorry but I just cannot go without the Nvidia App. It’s too fucking good.
- Comment on AdGuard is yet another app to block Windows Recall 2 weeks ago:
With an Nvidia GPU on Linux, you don’t get the Nvidia App or even the Nvidia Control Panel. That means no 3D Settings page, no RTX HDR, no Shadowplay, no game filters, no video upscaling in Firefox… All features that I paid money to have and use daily. None of it exists in Linux beyond wonky half-solutions.
- Comment on AdGuard is yet another app to block Windows Recall 2 weeks ago:
This is objectively untrue. I’ve seen it for myself.
You get a bare bones driver and nothing else. That means no 3D Settings page, no RTX HDR, no Shadowplay, no game filters, no video upscaling in Firefox… All features that I paid money to have and use daily.
I didn’t spend a bunch of money on a 4090, only to not be able to fully utilize every feature it has to offer.

I’ve already tried Linux with an Nvidia GPU. The driver is bare bones. You don’t get the Nvidia App or even the Nvidia Control Panel. That means no 3D Settings page, no RTX HDR, no Shadowplay, no game filters, no video upscaling in Firefox… All features that I paid money to have and use daily.
Point I’m making is that I didn’t spend a bunch of money on a 4090, onlyto not be able to fully utilize every feature it has to offer.
