Anything made before ~2015. You have a lot of great cars to choose from.

Furthermore: Slashdot still exists?
- Comment on Google Assistant car mics might be shutting down soon 1 week ago:
I thought this article was going to be about the mics that come included with aftermarket radios. I had no idea that dedicated cigarette lighter mics were a thing. No wonder why they’re shutting down the product. Between the mic(s) on your phone and the mic that came with your stereo, it’s a twice redundant product.
- Comment on Handful of users claim new Nvidia GPUs are melting power cables again 1 week ago:
What I’ve learned from this whole fiasco after owning a problem-free 4090 for over 2 years:
- Don’t use 3rd party connectors, and don’t use the squid adapter in the box. Use the 12VHPR cable that came with your PSU or GPU. If your PSU doesn’t have a 12VHPR connection, get one that does.
- Don’t bend the cable near the connection. Make sure your case is actually big enough to avoid bending.
- Make sure it’s actually plugged in all the way. If you didn’t hear a click, it’s not plugged in all the way.
- Don’t keep disconnecting the cable to check for burns. The connection is weak and designed to fail after only a handful of disconnect/reconnects. If you followed the 3 steps above perfectly, you have nothing to worry about.
That said, I’m skipping this GPU generation (and most likely the next one as well). Hopefully in 2-4 years AMD or Intel will be on more level grounds with nVidia so that I can finally stop giving them money just to have good ray tracing performance.
- Comment on Developer creates endless Wikipedia feed to fight algorithm addiction 1 week ago:
I just installed it and was immediately annoyed by the auto-scrolling feature being turned on by default. Is that really how TikTok works? How does anyone put up with this shit?
- Comment on 30 active communities which are not politics, news, memes or tech 1 week ago:
Can we please have the opposite list, next? The only reason I’m here is for politics, news, memes, and tech.
- Comment on Gottem. :) 1 week ago:
The core is still hot. If we bury ourselves deep underground, there is a chance the humanity could survive for thousands of years without a sun. If not humanity, then some sort of life will survive long enough for future archeologists to find it millions of years later.
But don’t quite me on this; I’m simply reciting from memory something I read in National Geographic or a similar publication 10-20 years ago. IDK how true this actually is.
- Comment on Got myself some energy monitoring Zigbee plugs and made an interesting discovery 2 weeks ago:
That’s nothing; my Ryzen 7000 machine uses 150w at idle. Modern high-end desktops draw a lot of power.
- Comment on Got myself some energy monitoring Zigbee plugs and made an interesting discovery 2 weeks ago:
My X670E system also uses a shitload of power. Literally 150w at idle, no matter what I do. Tried disabling every unnecessary feature in the BIOS and enabling all the energy efficient settings I can find, to no avail. Drives me nuts.

Just checked and all these supposedly “banned” subs are up and running.

Bro. Do you not know what the words “not interested” mean? I wasn’t going to read your first wall of text, and I’m surely not going to read that second one. I can’t handle the ignorance from bigots.

It’s literally just Shower Thoughts: The Website.
I really don’t understand the appeal.
- Comment on Workers at NASA Told to ‘Drop Everything’ to Scrub Mentions of Indigenous People, Women from Its Websites 2 weeks ago:
Any post that starts with “listen up libs” immediately makes me ignore the rest of its contents. Not interested in your MAGA and/or tankie bullshit.
- Comment on Tesla pulls out all the stops as Cybertruck sales grind to a halt 2 weeks ago:
No not the same. Forums didn’t revolve around media, they revolved around discussions.
And I’m 37, thankyouverymuch
- Comment on Tesla pulls out all the stops as Cybertruck sales grind to a halt 2 weeks ago:
You’re literally using social media right now.

Thanks for giving me the idea. BRB, making a keyword filter for the words “slams” and “slammed”.

So glad I waited until my 20s to try weed. Everyone else I know started in their teens.

I’m in an optimistic pessimistic mood right now so I upvoted both of you.
- Comment on HDMI 2.2 cranks the bandwidth to 96Gbps and aims to eliminate audio sync issues forever 1 month ago:
The point I’m making is that we will still have to deal with motion blur at 240 and 480Hz, so I might as well save some money and hang onto my 4K120 OLED until we reach 1000Hz.
- Comment on HDMI 2.2 cranks the bandwidth to 96Gbps and aims to eliminate audio sync issues forever 1 month ago:
Let me know when we have cables that can hit 1000Hz at 8K, so I can finally own a blur-free OLED. Until then, I’m perfectly content with 4K120.
- Comment on Amazon worker who was ran over and shot during NO attack denied medical leave. 1 month ago:
Which is so bizarre because when I worked for them, they would let me come in late as often as I wanted to, and take as much leave as I needed.
I went on so many mental health breaks when I worked for them. It was nice to have.
- Comment on Almost the entire US South is now being blocked by Pornhub 1 month ago:
So basically only the worst states in the country have this law. Color me surprised.
- Comment on Almost the entire US South is now being blocked by Pornhub 1 month ago:
No but I use a 3rd party DNS, which might have something to do with it, now that you mention it.

Speaking of which, can anyone please tell me why XHamster now requires a Virgina ID to visit the website, even though I live nowhere near that shithole?
- Why does it have to be a Virginia ID specifically?
- How the hell am I going to get a Virginia ID from out of state?
- Why would anyone give a porn site their ID to begin with? That’s a major invasion of privacy.

Fallout: New Vegas

Driverless cars because we already have them. I used to take one to work all the time.
- Comment on It's 2025 now, what are the games you'll be starting the year with? 1 month ago:
How? Did you dig an old PC out of storage?
I can’t get New Vegas to run on a modern PC without it constantly crashing, even when with the fan patches and mods that supposedly allow it to work on newer PCs. Please share your secrets.
