Yeah, I can’t see any way this could possibly fail…

And exactly where do you propose they talk about it and actually have people see it?
- Comment on [Gamers Nexus] "Google is Getting Worse," ft. Wendell of Level1 Techs 4 days ago:
I’m pretty sure their ad revenue from their own pages is a tiny fraction of their advertising revenue… They basically own the advertising market online, almost anywhere you see ads googie is getting a cut
- Comment on Windows 11 is now automatically enabling OneDrive folder backup without asking permission 4 days ago:
When I rebuilt mine a few months back, I got two drives so I could put windows on one of them, and mounted my old drives for the same reason… I’ve barely touched the old data and the second SSD has not even been formatted yet, and when I do it’ll probably be to give my current system more space
- Comment on Windows 11 is now automatically enabling OneDrive folder backup without asking permission 4 days ago:
Give it a go, it was surprisingly not as big an issue as I thought it would be, even for gaming (though not perfect for gaming, I’ve been able to get things working without too much headache at least)

So you want to throw a brick through OneDrive’s Windows?
- Comment on Windows 11 is now automatically enabling OneDrive folder backup without asking permission 4 days ago:
Oh, that’s okay though, you signed them the rights to do that by having an account with them
… I’m sure is how they’ll spin it

I’m seeing that a hell of a lot this year… Linux might actually finally make some real headwind with the tech crowd

Nah, it’s 53 billion for each

Thank you for providing the good reasons for it, it makes much more sense now
- Comment on Microsoft Account to local account conversion guide erased from official Windows 11 guide — instructions redacted earlier this week 5 days ago:
The accounts started out optional with benefits to entice
They’re now mandatory for Home and hard to bypass
How long before they extend this to Pro and Enterprise? To Server? To Active Directory itself?
They’re not done yet, not by a long shot.

Tesla isn’t a car… It’s an EXPERIENCE!!!
(/s just in case it isn’t obvious enough)
- Comment on Arizona toddler rescued after getting trapped in a Tesla with a dead battery | The Model Y’s 12-volt battery, which powers things like the doors and windows, died 6 days ago:
It’s worse than that: it requires the old school lead acid 12v battery to be charged, so even if the car’s battery is full, it doesn’t matter if that old car battery has failed
That’s not unique to Tesla EVs, but it being required to open the doors may be (the 12v lead acid runs the general vehicle electronics rather than down converting the 400v or 800v main battery… I don’t understand that decision, but I’m no electronics expert so there may be really good reasons for it…)

Last couple cars I’ve had that’s been a setting you can change… I set mine to lock when the car moves at more than a few mph, the other options seemed like too high a chance to cause an accidental lockout to me

- Comment on GenAI more buzz than biz as tech barely dents jobs 1 week ago:
At a quick glance I’m not seeing anywhere in the article that they think that’s what this is… If you’re responding to them calling it “GenAI”, that’s a shortening of “Generative AI”, not “General AI”

Creative works of individuals specially… Corporations should explicitly be deemed not people and not possessing of the same rights as people and the fact that needs to be said just goes to show how far down there shit hole we’ve fallen

- Comment on Republicans are pulling out all the stops to reverse EV adoption 1 month ago:
There’s actually a really good logical reason to be against EV cars: they’re cars.
That said, there’s no good reason to be opposed to them in favor of ICE cars

I think they’re more commenting on how the supposedly “free market” champions constantly interfere with the market when it suits their agenda

- Comment on Will self driving trucks hit the roads with nobody on board or will they keep a human supervisor? 1 month ago:
The time limit is probably adequate since 30 seconds is actually quite a long time on the road in terms of response. Actions taking place that far before an accident will not lead irrevocably to the accident

- Comment on Lithium-free sodium batteries exit the lab and enter US production 1 month ago:
Probably would have if we didn’t pull out all the stops to subsidize it all to hell and back. 40 years ago was a great time for increasing fuel efficiency and smaller, lighter cars specifically because of gas shortages, and when that got a temporary reprieve we just acted like it could never happen again
- Comment on A YouTuber let the Cybertruck close on his finger to test the new sensor update. It didn't go well. 1 month ago:
It snapped the tip of the carrot, which wouldn’t be a lot of resistance
Based on what it didn’t cut through, his finger should have been safe but apparently Tesla designed the thing to keep increasing the pressure if it detects resistance each time until it can close, which is absolutely baffling. I don’t know of any other safety feature that turns down the safety the more it activates. The fact that it reacts to the exact same conditions differently each time should, in itself, be deeply concerning for any safety feature.
It might have been dumb of him to try it, but that doesn’t change that it’s still unsafe.
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 1 month ago:
Honestly, EV-Go or Electrify America building NACS chargers isn’t going to fix anything. The plug isn’t what makes the Supercharger network appealing, it’s the fact they ensure the stations are ubiquitous, fully functional, and the payment is seamless. If he’s throwing out the team that is making sure those things continue to be true, the charging problem is only going to get worse.
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 1 month ago:
How robust it’ll be by the time other cars get access is now rather questionable with this firing spree
