- Comment on Do RICH people of color ever get harassed by ICE? 16 hours ago:
Everywhere. Just open the news. Every random backwoods has a pending proposal from a vulture capitalist
- Comment on Do RICH people of color ever get harassed by ICE? 16 hours ago:
There’s more to it than that. A rich person can afford a luxury car, a poor person might have a beater or a low cost lease. Guess which one the police are going to actually stop
- Comment on Avocado. Is it really so untasty or I am doing something wrong? 23 hours ago:
Fwiw, I’m latina and generally not a big fan of them. Growing up, my dad ate at least one a day. It’s a huge thing in Hispanic households
- Comment on Americans: How the hell do you meet new people or get into relationships after college? 3 days ago:
Hobbies. Groups. Bars/clubs. Anything that fosters community. Find somewhere that cultivates a shared interest and engage with others, they aren’t necessarily going to come to you
- Comment on Can some please explain to me why it is that your health insurance can deny you medication, even if your doctor says you need it? 4 days ago:
The reason is what pushed Luigi to merc one of them
- Comment on How come in American classrooms they make another language an elective. Why not teach our kids as many languages possible that way if we go somewhere we will kind of have uper hand? 1 week ago:
Oh boy don’t look up American required math education
- Comment on How come in American classrooms they make another language an elective. Why not teach our kids as many languages possible that way if we go somewhere we will kind of have uper hand? 1 week ago:
That’s why it’s a fucking robbery when bilingual parents refuse to teach their kids a second language. Sadly happens a lot in the US with Spanish
- Comment on How come in American classrooms they make another language an elective. Why not teach our kids as many languages possible that way if we go somewhere we will kind of have uper hand? 1 week ago:
The US is allergic to other languages. Hell, it’s even allergic to English depending on where you look. It’s all just part of the government’s plan to keep people stupid.
//
Languages are great, and you learn a ton about other cultures along the way. For anyone on the fence of learning another language, I can happily say being trilingual is super fun and worth the effort
- Comment on Michelle Obama once said when they go low we go high. Meaning the republicans go low. What would be the equivalent of the Democrats going low instead of high ground? 1 week ago:
It’s a compromise
- Comment on Trans people in Kansas are being ordered to surrender their drivers licenses 1 week ago:
I’m currently outside the US but I need to renew my passport, which has had the correct gender marker and name for 10 years. Naturally they’re being butts about it, I’m pulling my hair doing this. The Nazi bastards don’t care
- Comment on Trans people in Kansas are being ordered to surrender their drivers licenses 1 week ago:
We’ve always been one of the main groups targeted by Nazis, but never s part of the discussions
- Comment on Earbugld question: Does anyone actually like to silicone tipped earbuds over the solid plastic ones? 1 week ago:
I détest the silicone ones. They’re uncomfortable and I always lose the tip. I only use the hard plastic ones

It’s fuckin RAW
- Comment on For Americans, what do you really think of Latin Americans? 2 weeks ago:
Gallo pinto is lazy man’s food.
- Chop up onions and peppers (optionally celery), add to giant frying pan and cook slightly with some oil
- Dump in a metric buttload of rice. Day old rice is better than fresh. Fry it up a bit
- Add a can of black beans, juice included. Mix it all together
- Season with salt, garlic, Goya Adobo, and a fuckton of cumin. Add other spices to taste.
- Right before serving, add a fuck ton of cilantro and mix (no substitutions!). This shit shrinks like spinach.
- Serve with some sort of side - fried egg, sweet plantains, chorizo, chachirron, cheese (queso fresco or fried)
- Comment on For Americans, what do you really think of Latin Americans? 2 weeks ago:
Yes but the American idea of a taco is not traditional Hispanic food, and especially not representative of the majority of Latin America
- Comment on For Americans, what do you really think of Latin Americans? 2 weeks ago:
I’m originally from Costa Rica, but lived in both the US and Canada
The US has always had a major xenophobia problem, even in progressive areas. The area I grew up in is a red area of a blue state and my experience there as a latina was fucking horrible, in large part due to the cops. No one in the US seems to understand that Costa Rica is a country and I would constantly get called Puerto Rican or Mexican.
Canada is different, Costa Rica has a much stronger presence here and people are much more aware of it (though I’ve yet to actually meet any other Costa Ricans). My experience as a latina has been better by comparison, though unfortunately it’s because a lot of the racism and xenophobia gets directed at South Asian people.

It’s been the American nightmare for most of my life

- Comment on We dont talk about what happened to Alex Pretti enough. 2 weeks ago:
It’s gonna become as normalized as school shootings
- Comment on When did it become normalized to start passing credit card processing fees to the customer? 3 weeks ago:
Was it really baked into the price of the goods when the price of the goods hasn’t changed?
- Comment on Trigger warning - This Epstein stuff is making me sick... 3 weeks ago:
I am close to feeling like we need pitchforks, torches and shovels if this justice system won’t actually do anything…
We passed that point a while ago
- Comment on Americans rarely refer to the US as America 3 weeks ago:
I’m a US citizen and lived there most of my life but refuse to call myself American. I’d rather call myself after my home state or country of birth, It’s an embarrassment.
Helps that I live abroad though
- Comment on What should I NOT do in front of rich people? 3 weeks ago:

Does humanity solve the climate crisis
- Comment on why is the beginning on the left and the end on the right? 4 weeks ago:
It’s fairly arbitrary. Many languages write right to left, and some even write up and down
- Comment on Is it theoretically possible Trump and ICE are killing a very large number of immigrants (like 25% of those detained) and no one knows? 4 weeks ago:
Didn’t aerial photos of that camp show mass graves and dead bodies…
