Precisely this. My partner and I uprooted our lives to move to a new country. I left a loving community, a strong career, and so much more. I absolutely miss my home but didn’t feel safe continuing to live in the states. Don’t get me wrong, I also LOVE my new home, it’s been nothing but welcoming.
We cry very often because there is so much just trauma and grief that we haven’t been able to process. No one tells you just how hard it’s gonna be.
To give an example, I frequently hallucinate seeing or hearing my friends around my new city. Every time I do I have to hold back tears.

I have to give it to Apple myself, VoiceOver is one of the best I’ve used. On Windows I agree that NVDA is the best. JAWS is shit and not free(??), and Microsoft’s built in one is eh

American education has always been a complete shitshow. Recently I realized that I never actually knew anything about the war of 1812 because the extent of what was taught to us in fucking NY was like a single page in a textbook. Unless you took AP you didn’t learn shit.

I’m a citizen living in another country. I will NEVER FUCKING EVER call myself an American, much less a proud American. I’ll call myself a NYer because I owe most of who I am to that state/city, but I am ashamed about the country I grew up in.

Most apartments I’ve lived in (2 people and a dog) fall into the 500-1000 sqft range. I’d say 1500-2000 is plenty big for all but the largest families

That’s all landlords. They never follow the law because they have significantly more power over the tenant. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a security deposit back in full in the dozen or so apartments I’ve lived in, they always have some slimy excuse for it.

Probably a combination of it being cheaper (as the others said) and data centers not really having to be near right next to cities. It’s easier to plop them in the middle of nowhere.
