It’s their level of aggression towards fan projects that sets them apart I think.
- Comment on Roblox players are going to start getting paid to watch ads 4 days ago:
And by paid we mean given in-game cosmetics with no monetary value.
This is not a new thing at all. Mobile games have been using rewarded ads for years so I’m not sure why they’re acting like it’s some groundbreaking thing.
- Comment on Cyan (Myst, Riven) to lay off 12 people, "roughly half the team" 1 week ago:
Very sad to hear. Cyan is a massive influence on me and I’m always rooting for them. They definitely haven’t had a smooth or easy road over the years though.

I play so many video games I thought that sign was a choice dialog overlaid on the photo for a second. It’s so weirdly flat in the perspective. 😅

OK good to hear!

I known I’ll like the game (the franchise is one of my all time favorites), it just had a lot of technical problems on launch so that’s what I’ve been waiting to see improved. Sounds like it might still be kinda rough based on the first part of your comment.

How’s the game state these days? I’ve been waiting to play until it got fixed up.

The biggest responses I’ve ever gotten by far have all been asking for alternatives to popular tech. 😏
- Comment on How accurate are the viral TikTok AI POV lab history videos? 4 weeks ago:
Hogne, who created the video, says he recognises that there are historical inaccuracies in his videos and that’s because “AI can make a lot of errors but in the future the tools will get better”.
“I try and spot them where I can but I am not a history expert so I don’t always see the error, especially when it’s something small,” he adds.
Asked about the lack of transparency in source material, Hogne says in the future he might consider adding links to where he got his information from.
“It would be cool to make it totally accurate using the right sources, but it’s just me on my own making these videos and it takes eight hours to make each one.”
Oh wow, eight whole hours. What an ordeal!

- Comment on I've been replaying Into The Breach lately and stumbled on what I think is an insane power squad. 4 weeks ago:
I really liked this game, but I used all my unlock points on the wrong squads and couldn’t progress any further to get new ones. I wish they hadn’t bound the unlock currency to getting achievements with each squad. It made it so if I bought one I ended up hating there was no shot of getting any money back. Otherwise it’s a great game though.
- Comment on If you enshitify it they will go 4 weeks ago:
Organic maps is pretty good, though it doesn’t have up to date enough info if you want to use it to find restaurants and businesses. I find it’s actually more accurate for things like paths, benches, other outdoor features basically.
- Comment on Indie devs have begun adding a no generative AI stamp to their store pages 5 weeks ago:
To be fair to the people protesting this isn’t what they’re objecting to. They don’t like tools which were built on theft, which all the major LLMs were. That’s the core issue, along with the fear that artists will be devalued and replaced because of them.

My dad does this so much and I asked him about it once. He said he thinks it makes everything sound very chill and low pressure. I think it makes everything sound passive aggressive, or like it’s a loaded statement🤦♂️

That’s a good manager! I’ve been lucky enough to have some like that, too, but sadly not everywhere.
- Comment on Sounds like a problem for them, not me. 1 month ago:
Entirely depends on the job, and also some states have more protections than others. “Hustle culture” is really engrained over here though and there can be a lot of guilt for many people around asking for time off, both internalized guilt for the worker and actual guilt tripping from managers if you have a toxic work place.
We don’t have a culture of going on holiday in America like parts of Europe do, so I think it’s not as normalized and there’s often a feeling of pressure to only do it when others aren’t so that the company is still well staffed.
It’s all very toxic, but I think people are also starting to realize how toxic it is in the past several years and there’s more and more acknowledgement between workers at least that we should be taking our time off.

I do wish it was slightly shorter. They just don’t make small enough phones anymore for my taste.

Don’t get me wrong, I think its very weird too. I’ve been curious how it actually happens, though.

Does anyone in the industry know how/if that stuff needs approval from someone? Like does the family estate OK it or something?

They kept saying gas giants in the trailer and I was like “are you not going to show them?”
Finally realized the rocky worlds they were walking on were the “gas” giants. I’m sure they’re cool but they just looked like extra-stormy planets.

Glad you had that last paragraph, because inflationary justifications are just hand waving when people’s income isn’t keeping pace. It’s not based in reality.
