Toki Pona has 14 letters (and less than 200 words).
- Comment on why is radical acceptance not being a spineless conformist? 2 weeks ago:
When faced with an issue, I classify it according to one or more of these “buckets”: Bucket #1: Not actually a problem at all (usually just unnecessary drama). Bucket #2: A genuine problem, but not my problem (none of my business). Bucket #3: A genuine problem, but I can’t do anything about it (it is not within my sphere of influence, or is beyond my capability to solve). Bucket #4: A real problem that I can do something about (basically everything that isn’t in one of the other buckets). If an issue may be categorized into buckets 1, 2, or 3, I don’t waste time or energy on it. If it’s in bucket 4, I get to work on it. I think this approach has saved me much stress.
- Comment on Why don't cars have a way to contact nearby cars like fictional spaceships do? 3 weeks ago:
GMRS has mostly replaced CB now. Cheap and works better than CB at short range. Adoption has been slow, however.
- Comment on Could rising sea levels caused by climate change be thwarted by digging a big hole at the bottom of the sea? 5 weeks ago:
Next time I go to the beach I’m bringing a shovel, and will dig a hole just past where my feet get wet.
I’m doing my part.
- Comment on New Rules Could Force Tesla to Redesign Its Door Handles. That’s Harder Than It Sounds 1 month ago:
I read the article. It sounds like the auto makers concern is that they don’t think they have been given enough time to solve the problem (the problem being one which may kill people while we wait for a solution).
I think we should give them all the time they want, as long as they stop selling cars without safe door handles RIGHT NOW.
- Comment on Is anyone NOT steaming their Music? 1 month ago:
I only buy music on physical media. It’s the only way I can be sure that I really own it.
- Comment on YSK that hand sewing is a stupid cheap hobby to get into and reduces your impact on the environment 2 months ago:
I hate sewing, but it has saved me thousands of dollars over my lifetime and I am convinced that everyone should know how to do it unless they really don’t care about money.
- Comment on How to relax and most importantly stop thinking about the things i could be doing? 2 months ago:
Consume less caffeine and sugar.
- Comment on In SpongeBob, Sandy Cheeks is way more closely related to Pearl and the fish than she is to anyone else in the main cast 3 months ago:
Steven Hillenberg would be proud of you.
- Comment on What bottles/containers should I use for shipping from sea level to places at higher altitudes? 3 months ago:
If it’s sauce, there probably isn’t much air. Space in the jar is a partial vacuum with some vapor from the sauce. Air in the container will let the sauce spoil.
You probably just need a heavier container.

More likely zinc or brass.

Cook isn’t handling it like solid gold though (it looks too light). I bet it’s 24 karat gold plated zinc.
- Comment on 4 months ago:
Why, this is a crash, nor are we out of it.
- Comment on Someone should make an anticapitalist Dexter. A serial killer who kills evil rich people. 4 months ago:
Ya, like any major media company would go anywhere near that. Great idea though. It would get dynamite ratings.
- Comment on Why does Dairy Queen sell food? 5 months ago:
Define “food.”
- Comment on tattoo printer 5 months ago:
The YouTuber Emily the Engineer made one and tested it on her assistant, with success. But the video wouldn’t make you want to try it.
- Comment on We went from LEARN TO CODE to NO ONE LEARN TO CODE GET A CONSTRUCTION JOB in about a 3 year span. 5 months ago:
I’m fairly sure the “learn to code” thing was just a media campaign by corporations to assure an abundance of programmers, leading to decreased labor rates. Years earlier it was a push for electronic engineers and technicians.
- Comment on What programs do you wish a good FOSS alternative existed, but doesn't or most of the FOSS alternatives simply aren't good? 7 months ago:
Microsoft Access. I have one database that I need that’s written in Access, and although I suppose I could convert it to some other system it would be a chore and I’m not that driven to make the change.
I’ve moved almost everything else onto Linux.
- Comment on Today's Survey. One point for everything that you have NEVER DONE 7 months ago:
I got one point for the Walkman thing, but maybe I just forgot.
- Comment on Horses ARE Forever 7 months ago:
Self driving, too, provided you want to go where the horse wants to go.
- Comment on What is the weirdest argument you’ve overheard? 9 months ago:
Not exactly an argument, but I once overheard a restaurant owner bribing a cop. It was an Italian restaurant in San Francisco. Kind of unsettling, but the food was great, and reasonably priced. 4 stars.
