I think I had read somewhere that they would eventually have ads, but that may have just been member speculation.
Maybe if they go down the Apollo route they could have some sub tiers, but we’ll see.

I don’t think many of the niche communities really had time to thrive, since people were trying to build up a lot of the main ones. I think some were starting to just get traction, which could be a reason why they chose now, stopping before it really got away from them.

Better to close the doors and redo it before ending up like reddit. In reddit’s case they welcome it.

There were entire communities popping up dedicated to SEO and advertising. A lot of the spam would happen during the US night time, so they’d have to wake up every morning to sweeping away all the crap. Really curious on how they intend to handle the bots.

Some things will definitely work better over there.

Can’t you just show them all the love Luigi is getting? Seems like a good motivator.

This is really good to know. Are you aware if this has ever been addressed by them or anyone else ever?

It’s interesting hearing “There’s nothing on Digg it’s dead, fediverse is more active” because when I joined Lemmy people were using the same comparison of reddit vs the fediverse. Things take time to build and they are still in beta. Lemmy is way more active and settled than when I first joined (hell I originally joined kbin instead). It’s good to have competition. I am active on both and I believe they will have different demographics.

This can be my “If I am stuck in the desert” option.

I think the argument was that having it be linear allowed for better puzzles since you’d progressively need more items per dungeon. I think they kept the freedom more on the handheld games than the main 3D ones. If memory serves, you could do most of the dark world dungeons in any order, in A Link to the Past as well as a Link Between Worlds. Echoes of Wisdom recently also gave some ability to choose dungeons. I’m curious what the future holds post TotK.

I actually did proofread a few times. By now I think I’ve had to admit to myself that I may have mild dyslexia, and should see about getting diagnosed. I usually have to read through something multiple times, and even then, typos will remain. I do appreciate you pointing it out though! I’ve updated the title.

Rare to see it being the favorite for someone who has only recently played it!

I think the original game brought a printed map for you to fill in, plus some information in the manual. All of which obvious those of is who have emulated would not have.

This is one of the things I feel like I missed out on from the earlier games. I think the closest we had to it again was drawing on the maps for the DS.

Still haven’t managed to actually get through it. The first two are still on my list.

It’s amazing how many things happened so quickly, like the goldeneye multiplayer being a thing created over the weekend before launching or something.

The fact you were only about 25% through the game was pretty crazy to me back then too. It’s still one of my too Zeldas.

As much as I dislike ai, this is why I enjoyed the short lived “Artifact” news website (Yahoo bought them out). Their feed had a feature where you could report a click bait title and it would use ai to turn it into a normal sentence. If enough people clicked it, that would become how it was seen by people. I really dislike people using the click bait title on the fediverse, but it’s a symptom of the internet today as a whole.

As another option, there are storage lockers and other places you can have things shipped to as well. UPS and some others have these services. I’ve never lived in Chicago so do some research around where you will be staying.

Kevin Rose also left Digg at some point, not sure how much of that demise is on him. He had to buy it back for this second run.

With all the IP Paramount owns, they sure doubling down on Star Trek. I think they have more concurrent shows right now than Star Wars. Hell I think Star Wars is down to just Ahsoka now, and a like one cartoon.

There were sealed and have fake passages, but I don’t think there were traps.

Definitely not the kind of treasure people want to find later.
