Right, you call everyone that disagrees with you about stuff you don’t care about “dumb fucks”? xD

Nah, not everything is political. You can make everything political, however. The comment above is a case in point.

Seeing your relatively high involvement in defending a simple “joke”, I’d say you’re more triggered than the ones down voting, but whatever, you do you.

That’s because there’s always someone bringing politics into casual conversations and it’s tiresome. Yes the world is fucked, most of us here are well aware. Let us enjoy some escapism every now and then, maybe.
- Comment on Best World-Building Game Coffee Table Books? 1 week ago:
They’re all cool if you’re into the games or whatever they cover, imo. Having books on stuff that you’re not familiar with feels weird, imo. Google Books covering your favourite games and stuff and I’m sure you’ll find plenty. But if you don’t care about that and just want cool gamer stuff to put on the coffee table, The Game Console 2.0: A Photographic History from Atari to Xbox might be one of those. There’s a LOTR illustrated edition. There’s a tomb raider cookbook and travel guide. World of warcraft also has tons of cool art and a cookbook. There’s God of war lore and legends. There’s The Art of Video Games from pacman to mass effect, etc. And for more, there’s This site.

That’s part of it and it’s probably part of the staying power, sure. But I’m pretty sure it exploded before it started doing that. Iirc, quite soon after release, Ninja became one of the most popular streamers on twitch, breaking records and stuff and he even did a stream with Drake which at the time was the biggest stream ever. People were speculating even then that maybe epic paid Drake, but well… could just as easily have been just Drake being Drake.
As for why it got popular in the first place… I think it’s just being at the right time in the right place. There was Minecraft hunger games, h1z1, PUBG and probably a few other smaller ones. They were all quite popular and then Fortnite came along and made it more accessible and arguably more fun and stuff as well. A few of my friends used to try pretty much all the popular games, especially shooters. And besides CS, Fortnite was definitely the one that kept them engaged the longest. That’s just anecdotal, but well… if it worked on us, it’s probably worked on many.

See what I mean? Ad hominems instead of just admitting anything. Keep insisting there’s only 6 sentences there, that’ll make it true.

The looting you can skip with cheats. Technically you can skip a lot of traveling that way as well. But That’s a bit part of the game, imo. If you don’t enjoy spending time in the game, then all you want to do is shoot people? There’s better games for that.
- Comment on A 2003 complaint about Half Life 2 2 weeks ago:
Nah, I’m willing to bet HL3 will come out (at the latest) 5 years after Gaben’s death. Not because he’s witholding it, obviously, but because whoever comes next will probably try to make as much money as possible and that’s an easy first way to do it.

The name shāwarmā in Arabic is a rendering of the term çevirme in Ottoman Turkish (چيويرمى [tʃeviɾˈme], lit. ‘turning; hence, roughly synonymous to döner in this context’), referring to rotisserie.>
So maybe it depends whose version of shawarma you’ve had. All the ones I’ve seen so far (in different European countries) have been with rotisserie /doner kebab.
Names seem interchangeable in many places, in my experience. When I was a kid the difference between kebab and shawarma used to be that one was in a bun and the other was a wrap, for some reason. The bun has been phased out, unfortunately, and now it’s only wraps everywhere.

Which is why I suggested using cheats to make the game easier.

Definitely. Thought I put it there, but guess not.
- Comment on What are your favourite single-player games without much fluff, grinding or difficulty spikes? 1 month ago:
Yeah, that’s fair, had forgotten about that. Then again, that’s one of the games where cheats can make it playable.

I mean, if you’ve enjoyed Skyrim, honestly you can just google “best RPGs of all time” and play any that will show up. I’m gonna go against the grain here and say that Skyrim’s world is beautiful but nothing else is that great about it. Try enderall, fallout London, gothic 1+2 + archolos, mass effect 1-3, disco Elysium, Witcher 1-3, Baldur’s Gate 1-3, Neverwinter nights 1+2, dragon age origins, fallout new Vegas, pillars of eternity1+2, Kotor 1+2, south park stick of truth + fractured butthole, cyberpunk, fable the lost chapters, divinity original sin 1+2, etc.
If at any point you feel like the combat is too hard or whatever you can use cheats and just enjoy the story. All of these have pretty good ones. At least all of these have less grinding and better story than Pokemon games, in my experience.
Beyond that, just go for popular, widely acclaimed games such as rdr2, bioshock, whichever doom you want, portal 1+2, etc.

- Comment on Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver - Official Teaser Trailer 2 months ago:
Nah, that wouldn’t be enough to differentiate PoE to hzd, imo. It’s like comparing Max Payne to CSGO. Or I dunno… rocket league to Football manager… or Mario party to street figther… trying to cover as many bases here to cover the games that you might be more familiar with. xD. Point is, in both games you get a character which you level up and customize by doing quests and killing mobs, but that’s pretty much where the similarities end, as far as the gameplay, mechanics and goals of fans go.
And for the record, despite this also being called an arpg, it’ll be very different from both PoE and hzd. ARPG seems to be as vague as “driving game” or “shooter”.
- Comment on Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver - Official Teaser Trailer 2 months ago:
Well, in this case, I just saw op say that this game was gonna be an arpg and because I play a lot of PoE, last epoch, etc. I was expecting something in that vein. Then I open the link and I see 2 seconds of something that looks more like hades or god of war and I was disappointed. So if me wishing we had better terms for various genres makes me a prescriptivist, I guess I am one, in this case.
Also tdggrpg is too complicated of a subgenre name, I feel xD
- Comment on Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver - Official Teaser Trailer 2 months ago:
We need more subgenres! What do you call breath of the wild or the spiderman games in that case?
Imo god of war/ horizon are aptly named because they’re action focused RPGs.
We need new, better name for the “diablo-like” games, however. I feel like those are different enough that there’s not enough “rpg” left in them beyond the character building elements. Survivorslike aren’t RPGs despite them having character leveling and stuff so why should diablo 4 /Poe be called rpgs?

- Comment on Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver - Official Teaser Trailer 2 months ago:
We’ve only seen 2 seconds of gameplay, how can you be sure it’s not a rogue like or something?
Also, this comment reminded me how ridiculous I find it that we have genres such as “metroidvania” and “souls like”, “auto shooter” , “survivors like” and etc. Yet we can’t come up with subgenre names other than arpg which can describe everything from Bastion, to Horizon Zero down, to path of exile. What’s up with that?

- Comment on The Witcher 4 - Cinematic Trailer | State of Unreal 2025 2 months ago:
Most of the people that appear in Witcher trailers are just random victims or passer-bys.
This video was split into 2, in the other half we learn that the merchant told ciri that he was transporting salt. And that was a chest full of coins.
So, not your fault nor some lore that you’re unaware of.
- Comment on Had a take about Supergiant Games that recieved a lot of pushback fromy two longest running best friends. 2 months ago:
All 4 games are great. And I do enjoy the one and done deal of the first 2. I don’t mind finishing a game in a few hours. If anything, that’s actually a bonus nowadays. Most games I stop halfway and never finish.
However, if you were to just focus on finishing the main story and consider that enough, I think you could finish Hades just as quickly. So to me Hades is just the same kind of game but with more replayability.
