Yeah, that’s fair enough about Subnautica. Might be worth trying with a trainer or something to just bypass the grinding and still experience the rest, tho.
As for outer wilds… Definitely worth giving it a shot, imo. The first bit is indeed a bit long, but shouldn’t be longer than an hour, tbh. And after that the game autosaves quite often and even when you quit, afaik. Should be more than fine for short sessions.

Alien: isolation? Pretty good horror game, imo. SOMA? Subnautica can be pretty scary,. especially for people with thalassophobia or however it’s spelled… Outer wilds? Not horror, but it is quite unsettling. Also an all around amazing game that everyone should experience, imo.

All that, plus the fact that if you’re gonna pirate, private trackers are better and safer. And in that case you need to seed. And besides, if everyone switches to debrid and nobody seeds anymore, who are you going to leech from?

Decided to try one of the less political articles to see what it’d look like.
One expert observes that “every school shooter has been heavily immersed in violent first person shooter games.”[1] Many bright futures of young men are destroyed by video game habits, and video games even cause harmful increases in blood sugar in players.[2]
Video games are addictive, train young mass murderers, and promote liberal talking points or ideas. <
That’s one of the first things it says. Then it goes on to talk about promoting homosexuality and some more bullshit. Good stuff…

Alternatively you can just watch “I love you, man”. Ok, it’s not the same thing at all, but it’s got prog rock.

Right, you call everyone that disagrees with you about stuff you don’t care about “dumb fucks”? xD

Nah, not everything is political. You can make everything political, however. The comment above is a case in point.

Seeing your relatively high involvement in defending a simple “joke”, I’d say you’re more triggered than the ones down voting, but whatever, you do you.

That’s because there’s always someone bringing politics into casual conversations and it’s tiresome. Yes the world is fucked, most of us here are well aware. Let us enjoy some escapism every now and then, maybe.
- Comment on Best World-Building Game Coffee Table Books? 4 weeks ago:
They’re all cool if you’re into the games or whatever they cover, imo. Having books on stuff that you’re not familiar with feels weird, imo. Google Books covering your favourite games and stuff and I’m sure you’ll find plenty. But if you don’t care about that and just want cool gamer stuff to put on the coffee table, The Game Console 2.0: A Photographic History from Atari to Xbox might be one of those. There’s a LOTR illustrated edition. There’s a tomb raider cookbook and travel guide. World of warcraft also has tons of cool art and a cookbook. There’s God of war lore and legends. There’s The Art of Video Games from pacman to mass effect, etc. And for more, there’s This site.

That’s part of it and it’s probably part of the staying power, sure. But I’m pretty sure it exploded before it started doing that. Iirc, quite soon after release, Ninja became one of the most popular streamers on twitch, breaking records and stuff and he even did a stream with Drake which at the time was the biggest stream ever. People were speculating even then that maybe epic paid Drake, but well… could just as easily have been just Drake being Drake.
As for why it got popular in the first place… I think it’s just being at the right time in the right place. There was Minecraft hunger games, h1z1, PUBG and probably a few other smaller ones. They were all quite popular and then Fortnite came along and made it more accessible and arguably more fun and stuff as well. A few of my friends used to try pretty much all the popular games, especially shooters. And besides CS, Fortnite was definitely the one that kept them engaged the longest. That’s just anecdotal, but well… if it worked on us, it’s probably worked on many.

The looting you can skip with cheats. Technically you can skip a lot of traveling that way as well. But That’s a bit part of the game, imo. If you don’t enjoy spending time in the game, then all you want to do is shoot people? There’s better games for that.

Nah, I’m willing to bet HL3 will come out (at the latest) 5 years after Gaben’s death. Not because he’s witholding it, obviously, but because whoever comes next will probably try to make as much money as possible and that’s an easy first way to do it.

The name shāwarmā in Arabic is a rendering of the term çevirme in Ottoman Turkish (چيويرمى [tʃeviɾˈme], lit. ‘turning; hence, roughly synonymous to döner in this context’), referring to rotisserie.>
So maybe it depends whose version of shawarma you’ve had. All the ones I’ve seen so far (in different European countries) have been with rotisserie /doner kebab.
Names seem interchangeable in many places, in my experience. When I was a kid the difference between kebab and shawarma used to be that one was in a bun and the other was a wrap, for some reason. The bun has been phased out, unfortunately, and now it’s only wraps everywhere.

- Comment on What are your favourite single-player games without much fluff, grinding or difficulty spikes? 2 months ago:
Yeah, that’s fair, had forgotten about that. Then again, that’s one of the games where cheats can make it playable.

I mean, if you’ve enjoyed Skyrim, honestly you can just google “best RPGs of all time” and play any that will show up. I’m gonna go against the grain here and say that Skyrim’s world is beautiful but nothing else is that great about it. Try enderall, fallout London, gothic 1+2 + archolos, mass effect 1-3, disco Elysium, Witcher 1-3, Baldur’s Gate 1-3, Neverwinter nights 1+2, dragon age origins, fallout new Vegas, pillars of eternity1+2, Kotor 1+2, south park stick of truth + fractured butthole, cyberpunk, fable the lost chapters, divinity original sin 1+2, etc.
If at any point you feel like the combat is too hard or whatever you can use cheats and just enjoy the story. All of these have pretty good ones. At least all of these have less grinding and better story than Pokemon games, in my experience.
Beyond that, just go for popular, widely acclaimed games such as rdr2, bioshock, whichever doom you want, portal 1+2, etc.
