I understand they have different types of staff with different areas of expertise, and they might be dependent on another thing being done first, like models before textures, but laying them off completely and bringing them back or hiring green employees does not seem like an efficient solution.

So leadership doesn’t prep for a new project towards the end of the current one? sounds like terrible project management is to blame.

If you spent 80 million making the other movie, I’m not sure if you have to pay taxes on it, or just the 40 million profit. If the latter, than you wouldn’t pay any taxes. Someone come in here and straighten Tiger and I out please!

- Comment on The Nintendo Switch 2 NEEDS to be backward compatible. 1 year ago:
I may have been conservative with that estimate. I think we have closer to 20-25 games. It’s likely much more money. I also spent money on a case, two new pairs of joy-cons, etc.
- Comment on The Nintendo Switch 2 NEEDS to be backward compatible. 1 year ago:
If Nintendo thinks I’m buying another console that won’t be able to play my current ~$500 library of games, they are kidding themselves.
- Comment on The Windows 11 problem 1 year ago:
I was using Mint for a while but the system got hosed. I plan on modding Starfield, and there was another game I can’t recall that wouldn’t work on Linux. After I best Starfield I fully expect to wipe my system again and go with a more stable distro of Linux (e.g. Gentoo or something).
- Comment on The Windows 11 problem 1 year ago:
To add to that, Android is likely the overwhelming market share of Linux-based operating systems in use today. For that matter, an absolute ton of Intel CPUs have Minux installed on them too, but I wouldn’t call this “on the desktop”, just interesting.
- Comment on The Windows 11 problem 1 year ago:
Honestly, between the telemetry data collection, the strange hardware requirements, advertisements, bloatware, and unknown future licensing model, Linux is looking like an attractive option. At this point, I only use Windows for Office and gaming, and Linux + Proton has gotten really good lately. I don’t see a reason to use Windows on my personal machine any more.
- Comment on When do you think there will be an app for android that could identify and store objects on a database in real time from video capture? 1 year ago:
Honestly, I expect some form of it in the next five years. Tech can move fast when it wants to and there’s 💵 involved.

- Comment on When two people kiss, they form a long tube from one anus to the other 1 year ago:
Got it. I thought you meant 12-14 openings each, and I was arguing semantics to myself about what could possibly be considered “openings” to make the number that big.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t had coffee yet, but could you do the math for me? 12-14 doesn’t seem right.
- Comment on Martin Scorsese urges filmmakers to fight comic book movie culture: ‘We’ve got to save cinema’ 1 year ago:
Not every film can be a cinematic masterpiece. I wouldn’t want to watch nothing but masterpieces, it would be exhausting. On the flip side, there can absolutely be comic book movies that are masterpieces. Logan comes to mind.

- Comment on How to Actually Clean Install Windows 11 1 year ago:
They already have a Windows “S” mode or whatever it’s called that does this. People will reject it, even casual users. I had one person ask me to turn off this mode to their kid could play Roblox. They just want to run apps, they don’t care how they work.
- Comment on How to Actually Clean Install Windows 11 1 year ago:
Honestly, there are some apps out there they need complete overhauls or to be completely replaced.
- Comment on How to Actually Clean Install Windows 11 1 year ago:
I’m of the opinion that MS will eventually get this right, but it won’t be called Windows 11 by the time it does. The redesign, efforts into command-line and WSL, they are moving in a positive direction, but the ads, bloat, spyware, needs to go. If they can release Win12 or whatever its called with the simplicity of Win11, have the features of Win10 (and finally put a nail in the old interfaces from XP and before), they could have another solid performer like Windows 7.
- Comment on Amazon To Start Running Ads In Prime Video Series & Movies, Will Launch Ad-Free Tier For Extra Fee 1 year ago:
So I canceled Netflix over Cuties, and prematurely canceling shows. I canceled Hulu for rising prices and ads. I stopped paying Max because of their inability to keep their own shows on their own platform. Now it looks like I’ll be canceling Prime. I don’t order that many things online these days.
I buy maybe one TV show and three movies a year. Much cheaper than these “services”. Also, no ads, and they aren’t disappearing. They stay right where I left them and I can watch them any time I want. I like reading, maybe I’ll do more of that, or complete my backlog of games I haven’t finished.
All that being said, my wife started paying for all of the above services because they each “have something” she likes to watch. She also subscribes to Acorn, Peacock, Paramount+, Disney+…I guess she can part ways with her money on this bs. I am done.
- Comment on They should build ev charging stations with a drive in theater so you can watch a movie as you're charging up to continue your road trip 1 year ago:
At first read I thought you meant swap vehicles while traveling. With how auto manufacturers are moving towards subscription-based models, I wouldn’t be surprised if something like that becomes an option. $700/month hot-swappable Ford Fiesta EV’s. Drive one in, take another out, carry on your route.

Got it. 6TB should be fine as long as you’re not cranking settings. Play on, my dude!
- Comment on Fps drops to single digits on Legion 5 Laptop 1 year ago:
This still sounds like a VRAM limitation. Do you have a way to monitor VRAM, like having FRAPS installed.
- Comment on Fps drops to single digits on Legion 5 Laptop 1 year ago:
Is it really a 2GB GPU? If so, you’re going to want low resolution scale, and probably a mod with performance textures. I think it’s been over 5 years since I’ve seen a GPU with that little VRAM. I wish you luck finding the settings/tweaks/mods to make it work.
